LATEST: Calls for Scottish soldier vaccinators to be redeployed to england!

After doing so well at first with their ‘never-mind-the-hindmost‘ strategy, NHS England’s ‘world-beating‘ vaccination programme has fallen to last place in the UK. English Labour have described the situation as a ‘postcode lottery‘. No, they haven’t actually. I made that up based on a Scottish Conservatives line. English Labour have agreed the Government is doing its best. They probably know they wouldn’t have done any better. The question they should be asking

The question BBC Scotland is not asking, above. The question they and only they ARE asking: Why are care home residents still dying with Covid? BBC UK, England, Wales and Northern Ireland have not asked this question. Might this explain BBC UK/England’s looking away? Might the answer be something to do with the Tory world-beating vaccination strategy? At the end of 2020 and until the 10th of January, the reported number of confirmed and suspected Covid-related deaths was actually slightly higher in Scottish care homes but then things began to change. In the week ending the 17th January, the level … Continue reading The question they should be asking

Keep the pressure on

As I await a response to one of my complaints on the Andrew Marr show, 70 days ago, it’s clear the BBC Complaints department is struggling. After their supposed Education Correspondent’s difficulty with percentages yesterday, we should keep the pressure on: Join me please. Here’s the evidence they ignored too: Date England Scotland 31.1.21 5167 1782 1.2.21 5009 6459 2.2.21 5360 7126 3.2.21 6764 8349 4.2.21 6936 8919 5.2.21 7172 8132 6.2.21 7170 8185 7.2.21 8153 9718 Continue reading Keep the pressure on

Ahead for a whole week: When will Reporting Scotland tell Scotland honestly?

Having saved the lives of thousands in care homes, NHS Scotland gets on with the next most vulnerable and immediately performs better than NHS England. Date England Scotland 31.1.21 5167 1782 1.2.21 5009 6459 2.2.21 5360 7126 3.2.21 6764 8349 4.2.21 6936 8919 5.2.21 7172 8132 6.2.21 7170 8185 7.2.21 8153 9718 20% better every day for a whole week now but BBC Scotland harp back to a supposed slow start that was really a life-saving start and feeds us the Tory nonsense about a ‘postcode lottery’. They know what they’re doing here. Sleep at night? God knows how they … Continue reading Ahead for a whole week: When will Reporting Scotland tell Scotland honestly?

LIES: Scotland vaccinates 20% more but BBC say it’s ‘broadly’ the same

On Reporting Scotland tonight: More than 50 000 people got their jab (sic) on Saturday. This is broadly in line with yesterday’s UK-wide number. Then from Jamie McIvor, the nearly 53 000 was: Roughly in line with a UK wide number. Scotland vaccinated 9 718 per 1 million population compared to England’s 8 153 and the UK collective figure of 8 238 per 1 million. By no stretch of the imagination is Scotland’s performance broadly or roughly in line. It’s 20% higher, and for the seventh day in a row. And, both said ‘jab’. The stupid question only BBC Scotland asks

From only BBC Scotland in the last hour or two: It’s more than seven weeks since the first care home resident in Scotland received her first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Annie Innes said she hoped it meant life could “get back to normal very soon”. Since then almost every elderly person living in a Scottish care home has been given the jab. Yet care homes are still reporting Covid outbreaks and residents are still dying with the virus. Why? The article does eventually clear up some of the misunderstandings their headline poses, such as the three-week gap before immunity … Continue reading The stupid question only BBC Scotland asks

Iain and the Wolf

From the Herald’s Iain Macwhirter today: Every so often political parties become so divided that they can barely function. It happened to Labour over Militant entryism in the 1980s, to the Tories over Europe in the 1990s. Now it is happening in the Scottish National Party. Only this is not about socialism, the EU or even independence, but over an obscure issue as toxic as it is undefinable: transphobia. From him a year ago: I feel sure I could dig back further and find more such claims from Macwhirter or, for that matter, the likes of Brian Wilson at the … Continue reading Iain and the Wolf

On the day they completed care homes, Scotland’s vaccinators surged into the lead

On the 1st February, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said 98% of older people in care homes and 88% of care home staff have had the jab and that the NHS is “ahead of schedule” to complete first doses for all over-80s by Friday. On that same day, Scotland vaccinated more of its population pro rata than England and has continued to do so since then. In desperation Scottish Conservatives appear daily on BBC Scotland to claim it’s a postcode lottery. The data: Date England Scotland 31.1.21 5167 1782 1.2.21 5009 6459 2.2.21 5360 7126 3.2.21 6764 8349 4.2.21 6936 8919 … Continue reading On the day they completed care homes, Scotland’s vaccinators surged into the lead

Is Four Nations Army of vaccinators understrength in Scotland

There are now 200 Army Vaccinators from Fife, working in Scotland and the same number is helping out in Wales, despite it having a much smaller population. As with figures for care home vaccinations, Covid-testing and hospital-onset infections, the number of Army vaccinators working in England is not yet available. Scotland has more than 3 000 civilian vaccinators so the Army 200 represent 6% or less of the total force.
