SNP 1 but not 2: Watch this space tomorrow?

Cards on the table, I’m an SNP member and I voted SNP 1 Green 2. I might have voted Alba 2 until the crazy trans comments from some members and the polls suggesting they might be a wasted vote too. Listening to the very impressive Scottish Greens co-leader, Lorna Slater will have played a part in my decision Though a member, I’ve been pretty sure the SNP 1 and 2 strategy was more tribal than rational. I’m also relaxed about a wider alliance especially with a party holding even more leftist views on economic matters. Some have misunderstood my intentions … Continue reading SNP 1 but not 2: Watch this space tomorrow?

Get the message now, Scotland? An Independent Scottish Labour Party?

The most corrupt party of government in at least my lifetime, defeats the Labour party, freshly rebranded to get the media onside and with its left-wing purged, by a country mile. The Conservatives won the Hartlepool by-election with a majority of 6,940 votes – a massive swing from Labour of 16% In the past, some in Scotland have clung to the noble aim of making all of the UK a better, fairer, place and internally aligned themselves with those they thought were like them in the North of England, against those selfish, racist southerners. The red wall in the north … Continue reading Get the message now, Scotland? An Independent Scottish Labour Party?

Updated: Regional variations suggests Alba may do better than zero

The YouGov data tables have just become available and they, unlike the others, break the support down into the regions. So, Alba at 3% overall may be expected to get no seats if they get something like that in every region but in Mid-Scotland and Fife, this poll gives them 7% and the possibility of stealing one from the Lib Dems. Also, a small new party’s actual strength on the day may be missed by a poll of only 1 144 people. My own wee twitterpoll of admittedly limited reliability also suggests Alba might be a touch stronger than we … Continue reading Updated: Regional variations suggests Alba may do better than zero

Scotland has third highest vaccination rate in the World

Only Israel and Wales have vaccinated more of their populations overall but Wales has done less (92%) of the vulnerable JCVI priority groups, over 50 and with underlying conditions, than Scotland (98%). https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/2021/04/22/shock-scotland-not-lagging-behind-on-vaccinations/ Though the cumulative totals are not far apart, Scotland has been vaccinating a higher percentage than England since April 22, more than two weeks ago. BBC Scotland has been too busy to report this. Continue reading Scotland has third highest vaccination rate in the World

‘Less than 5’ get double vaccine dose last Saturday and Herald headline it on Election Day

According to the Herald today, ‘less than 5’ people got a double dose of the Pfizer and were then contacted by NHS Lothian and told to watch out for side effects. One of the less than 5 has reported no side effects, just relief that it was enough. 5 days later, on Election Day, they report the essentially non-story. The jags were done in Musselburgh. What is less than 5? Just the one they quoted? Who do we think told the Herald? Cole-Hamilton? Briggs? Continue reading ‘Less than 5’ get double vaccine dose last Saturday and Herald headline it on Election Day

‘Crisis’ data on NHS vacancies gathered in November 2020 by the Lib Dems and posted in the Herald on election day!

From the Herald today: One in 14 consultant posts in NHS Scotland is vacant, with one health board saying it has advertised some vacancies 24 times without a single applicant. Data obtained under freedom of information by the Scottish Liberal Democrats found that 381 out of 5,367 consultant roles are currently unfilled. From Jeanne Freeman in 2019: 7% vacancies must be a relief to the BMA. In February 2021, they were predicting 15%, more than twice as many: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-56200530 Crisis, what crisis? Why today? Oh yes, the Liberal Democrats. When did they get the data? November 2020! Continue reading ‘Crisis’ data on NHS vacancies gathered in November 2020 by the Lib Dems and posted in the Herald on election day!

Nicola, did you hear something roaring in pain, in the distance there?

I think somebody’s is watching Jurassic Park in one of the houses across the street. How do you think Anas is doing? The media seem to like his 6th Year Prefect manner. What about the polls? Eh, here are the last few: Nearly caught the Tories after he told Douglas to grow up but he’s back in 3rd place now. Well ahead of Willie Rennie though? Tory voters are rallying to Douglas? What about the life-support for Unionist diddies vote? Oooh, the Greens might catch them! Their co-leaders seem dangerously intelligent and charismatic, by comparison. Monica Lennon for leader in … Continue reading Nicola, did you hear something roaring in pain, in the distance there?

Promoting the Union on election day?

Choices, choices, what will Reporting Scotland’s editor select from the many, many stories out there? Unlike the shameless attempts in the days before election day to undermine the SNP with tales of the unvaccinated, of businesses ruined by too slow emergence from lockdown and of an illegal referendum, they were at least subtle (sneaky?) today. Why will the Lions rugby coach name his selection today? Did he always plan to do it today? Why is he hinting at more Scots? Why is this a top story even before it has happened? How many of you were waiting excitedly to hear? … Continue reading Promoting the Union on election day?

Latest poll suggests 35 seat majority for pro-Independence parties

YouGov’s poll on 4th May predicts 70 SNP and 12 Green seats, giving a majority of 35, 82/47 and an overwhelming mandate for UDI – I wish. Look a that map. All of mainland Scotland other than my birth county goes SNP and my current home, Ayr, kicks out the Tory. If correct, this validates an SNP 1 / Green 2 vote. This can happen. Care home deaths, the data

The above graph revealing starkly the cost in lives of the failure in England to fully implement the JCVI guidance and vaccinate care home residents before all other groups was compiled by Na Sirf Musiqi https://twitter.com/nasirfmusiqi from official sources. It’s a story never told on MSM. It’s a far greater sin than wasting money on wallpaper. This shows the impact of the vaccinations as the began to confer immunity on many in Scottish care homes from the middle of January 2021: Another story never told.
