England’s women disappoint mourners of Duke
From reader Gordon: On the day that The Duke of Edinburgh passed, BBC television, as could only be expected, revised their schedules in order to focus on the royal death. Across almost all of the channels, planned programmes were replaced by rolling news and documentaries relating to the wonderful life and works of the Queen’s consort. It was interesting to note that the planned televising of a Scottish Championship football match was cancelled (although the match took place). Presumably such a program was deemed to be not in keeping with the solemnity required. On the other hand, on the red … Continue reading England’s women disappoint mourners of Duke
Let’s just drop the ‘Oxford’ bit now?
At the end of the year, the new vaccine could even be called just the ‘Oxford’ vaccine. Boris and Matt wondered if we could get a Union flag on every vial. In early January, it was still England’s vaccine gifted for BBC Scotland: Even on April 1st, as those sneaky Europeans stopped using it, it was still from Oxford: On the 7th April 2021, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency did not recommend age restrictions in COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca vaccine use but did say that the data suggest there is a slightly higher incidence reported in the younger adult … Continue reading Let’s just drop the ‘Oxford’ bit now?
SNP accused of inappropriately forcing death rate to lowest in the UK on this day
On this day of all days, the SNP Government in Edinburgh has shown disregard for the feelings of the family of the Duke, whose city they have the nerve to rule from, by deliberately pushing Covid deaths down to the lowest in the UK: Holyrood candidate, George Galloway, is expected to tell reporters that BBC Scotland’s plans to report overall deaths in Scotland as much lower, is based on Nationalist fabrications: Not satisfied with this republican attack on the Royal Family, the SNP Government in the place where the Duke’s heart lay, has also, cunningly, pushed vaccination levels above that … Continue reading SNP accused of inappropriately forcing death rate to lowest in the UK on this day
World’s largest offshore windfarm for Scotland
In Energy Voice today: The final push for the world’s largest floating wind farm off Aberdeen is underway, with a giant foundation making the first leg of its journey. Boskalis said transportation of the third giant foundation from Spain to the Netherlands last week, later destined for Aberdeen, begins a phase which will see the six-turbine Kincardine Offshore Windfarm “take shape in the coming months”. The Kincardine Floating Offshore Wind project, 15 km off the coast of Aberdeen, is the world’s largest array of floating turbines. It establishes Scotland’s leading position in both development and deployment of offshore wind farms. The … Continue reading World’s largest offshore windfarm for Scotland
99 year-old war hero dies in Gatehouse of Fleet
At 18, Jack Jarmy flew over Germany in a squadron which lost 10% of its men every flight. He died yesterday in Gatehouse of Fleet in South-west Scotland. Jack completed 41 operations and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The overall UK mortality rate in WW2 was 3.3% with the Royal Navy, for example, having the lowest rate. There are no plans to remember him officially. Continue reading 99 year-old war hero dies in Gatehouse of Fleet
The People’s Duke?
Do you think we’ll get this many? Disappointing – what’s wrong with these people? Wait, try a different angle: That’s better, ‘The People’s Duke!’ Maybe tomorrow? Continue reading The People’s Duke?
Where’s Jackson?
They’ve backstabbed better men and women than Douglas Ross before. Their London coven did for Maggie! They’ve left Jackson Carlaw out because they didn’t do a poll in his time. YouGov did on the 27th January 2020 and found only 25% of Tory voters trusted him and 8% of all voters trusted him. Would you have bought a car from that man? By my reckoning, that makes Douglas Ross a whopping 3 times more successful in winning hearts and minds. What’s their problem. Who could they get that’s any better? Jackie Baillie? Sarah Smith? George Galloway? Continue reading Where’s Jackson?
Tom Gordon turns Freeman’s ‘admission’ into a ‘fatal blunder’
The Herald’s photo editor, Jamie (14) rushes into Tom Gordon’s fuggy office clutching the above image. ‘Well done lad! Now nip downstairs to the chemists and get me a fungicide. Seriously though, Jeanne Freeman’s ‘admission of guilt’ yesterday was a better feed even than Tom’s had from Conservative HQ. Accepting the open goal gleefully, he writes: Nicola Sturgeon must take responsibility for the fatal blunder which saw infected hospital patients moved into care homes at the start of the Covid pandemic, opposition leaders have said. The First Minister’s role in the decision to move 1,300 untested patients into care homes came under scrutiny after Jeane … Continue reading Tom Gordon turns Freeman’s ‘admission’ into a ‘fatal blunder’
Psychodramas keep the Right in power?
The facts don’t matter to our most prominent journalists. They’re interested in the personalities. I guess their market research tells them that enough of us are too. That the polls prove they have no significant impact on voting behaviour, in Scotland, doesn’t matter to them either, it seems. It’s what they do. What they’ve always done in the tabloids: But, the ‘serious’ media used to do issues more and personalities less, it seems to me. Does this type of reporting help more the right or the left? Unsurprisingly hard empirical evidence is almost non-existent. Demonstrating such an effect would require … Continue reading Psychodramas keep the Right in power?
ROSS “VOTE LABOUR” PLEA IS ENDORSEMENT SARWAR DREADED
From SNP Media today: Commenting on Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross’s plea to voters to back Labour candidates in some seats, SNP Depute Leader Keith Brown said: “This is the endorsement Anas Sarwar was dreading, but the message is now crystal clear – a vote for Labour will be claimed by the Tories to hand control over to Boris Johnson. The decisive way to stop Boris Johnson deciding Scotland’s future is to give both votes to the SNP for Nicola Sturgeon as First Minister. “Douglas Ross’s campaign is going from bad to worse, and is no wonder he has been … Continue reading ROSS “VOTE LABOUR” PLEA IS ENDORSEMENT SARWAR DREADED
