Labour civil war on vaccine passports

This morning on the Marr Show, the Shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, confirmed that Labour supported all three aspects of the UK government’s plan B Covid rules, including vaccine passports for some venues as happens in Scotland. As far as we know Anas Sarwar, the Scottish Labour branch manager has not yet changed his opposition: Scottish Labour is refusing to support the Scottish government’s plans to introduce vaccine passports. A debate on the proposals is due to take place at Holyrood on Thursday, but opposition is building to the controversial scheme. Speaking on BBC Scotland’s The Sunday Show, Scottish Labour leader Anas … Continue reading Labour civil war on vaccine passports

Jackie Baillie wheeled on to lie about boosters

Jackie Baillie, Labour Shadowy Health Spokesperson, tells us on Reporting Scotland Inaccurately that those waiting more than six months have their protection waning and that they’re ‘more likely to get Covid than not.’ That last bit is of course stupid at a level beyond even the usual Scottish Labour stupid. In this month around 70 000 people will catch Covid and 5 330 000 won’t. Most of those who do will be young folk and not the ones waiting for the boosters. The vast majority of the population including those waiting for a booster are far less likely to get … Continue reading Jackie Baillie wheeled on to lie about boosters

Like never before? Reporting Scotland Wrongly?

Tonight, Reporting Scotland Badly tell us that parts of NHS Scotland are facing challenges ‘like never before.’ How can that be? New cases stable at less than half of the early September peak and below the July peak and, unlike before, many of the infected are young and not being admitted to hospital. Hospital admissions falling from a September peak only half of that in February 2021 and lower than that in April 2020. Like never before? ICU cases up slightly in the last few days but far below the September and February 2021 peaks and a quarter of the … Continue reading Like never before? Reporting Scotland Wrongly?

England’s fake emergency figures again

BBC News today is using the wrong A&E figures again to suggest the other nations are in the same sinking boat. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this use of the wrong data. The correct figure should be 64% for NHS England. https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/ae-waiting-times-and-activity/ Why? In February 2020, I explained: Only Type 1 A&E departments are full resuscitation, consultant-led and comparable with those in the rest of the UK. Type 2 and 3 are small drop-in minor injury sections in hospital with no A&E. NHS England, alone, collect the data for these and use them to generate fake data which … Continue reading England’s fake emergency figures again

Jags: 5 out of 6 ain’t bad?

It’s a cracker! You have to smile grimly at the adolescent logic in this ‘Scottish’ Daily Mail headline today. Readers will know by now that the Army contribution to rescue NHS Scotland amounts to 0.05% of staffing and that in our own poll, none had been jagged by a soldier and only 1% had ever seen a soldier anywhere near a vaccination centre and he was outside smoking. As for the shambles, the booster jag data seem to offer our gutter press, they think, a wee opportunity to stick it to the SNP but first, what are they not, never, … Continue reading Jags: 5 out of 6 ain’t bad?

Sandesh Gulhane’s silence

London-born MSP, GP, Home Office brutality against refugees apologist and media regular, Sandesh Gulhane is like all Tories, a man of little substance. In May, Gulhane, the son of Indian migrants, appeared to side with a Home Office detention raid and tried to blame local politicians for inciting the protest. Gulhane was silent when confronted with powerful figures such as Priti Patel. In September, Gulhane, was more confident when he accused the Scottish Health Secretary of ‘reckless messaging’ in asking people to ‘think twice’ before calling an ambulance. BBC Scotland platformed him and the other usual suspect to say: Scottish … Continue reading Sandesh Gulhane’s silence

What, twice as good as England on teen jags? No, we’ve worse things to tell you about!

Sky News today have been reporting the remarkable success with 50% of Scotland’s 12-15 year-olds jagged compared to only 20% in England. The Scottish Government’s strategy of setting up drop-in centres has proved, as predicted by experts, more successful than the in-school only jabbing preferred by the Conservative Government for England. Reporting Scotland Badly have not been all over the story but have been out getting folk to complain about a rail strike, dirty streets and low pay. Yeh, the BBC has always cared about low pay. Continue reading What, twice as good as England on teen jags? No, we’ve worse things to tell you about!

After a few days of a slight rise in cases, Scotland’s new confirmed cases figure has fallen from 47.2 cases per 100K to 46.4 in the last 24 hours. This compares favourably with 64.7 in Northern Ireland, 72 and climbing in England, 106.7 and rocketing in Wales. There have been calls for Alex Cole-Hamilton and Douglas Ross to explain why Scotland is doing so well. Continue reading

Fraser Nelson and Savid Javid confirm my thinking?

From Fraser Nelson in the Telegraph today: It hasn’t taken Sajid Javid long to get into a fight with the doctors’ unions. Unlike recent Tory Health Secretaries, he doesn’t wear an “NHS” badge on his lapel – regarding himself more as a reformer than a cheerleader. He rejected calls to extend lockdown in July and is resisting bringing restrictions now. The British Medical Association is upping the ante, accusing him of “wilfully negligence” in his failure to enforce mask-wearing. Their message: if things get worse, he’ll be to blame…. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/10/21/nhs-isnt-facing-another-covid-crisis-sajid-javid-knows/?WT.mc_id=e_DM1510383&WT.tsrc=email&etype=Loy_Dig_Acq_Sat_14Dto21D&utmsource=email&utm_medium=Loy_Dig_Acq_Sat_14Dto21D20211023&utm_campaign=DM1510383 No I haven’t lost my marbles but one of my … Continue reading Fraser Nelson and Savid Javid confirm my thinking?

Conservatives want to ‘cop’ the credit and so must take any flak?

Sandesh Gulhane, Tory MSP, is in the Herald to insist that city residents must not suffer from traffic restrictions due to COP26 but wait, who is responsible for all this? Gulhane will no doubt go on to blame the SNP Government for anything such as one of his patients being late for one of his thousands of appointments every week. However, Gulhane’s boss, Johnson, said in March: The COP26 summit is one of the single biggest priorities that any government could have domestically and internationally and it’s a massive job and we’re throwing everything at it. https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-climate-cop26-johnson-idUSKBN2BG2HQ The Scottish Government … Continue reading Conservatives want to ‘cop’ the credit and so must take any flak?
