BBC Scotland reveals claims that Sturgeon ‘sides with rioters!’

There’s only one mention of the First Minister of the country hosting COP26 and a representative of the city in Parliament. The Johnson regime have tried to side-line her in fear of her superior communication skills and her government’s far better record on the environment. BBC Scotland, our supposed public service broadcaster, has been following the line and and not her, ignoring Scotland’s senior politician’s presence at events and her official announcements. She appears only once in paragraph 38 out of 41 in the above report, with Johnson at paragraph 4 and COP26 President Alok Sharma at 6. Her announcement … Continue reading BBC Scotland reveals claims that Sturgeon ‘sides with rioters!’

Prejudging ‘chaotic’ Glasgow

Ahead of a week of protests, the Herald’s Josh Carmichael (18?) knows it will be ‘chaotic’ and not, perhaps, ‘inspirational?’ For Unionists, anything the SNP Glasgow City Council does must fail and fail even before it fails. The real chaos in the UK Cabinet Office responsible for the event will not come to light in Scotland’s media and the First Minister, deliberately side-lined by that UK cabinet Office, will no doubt find herself blamed for their failures. Was that delay on one of the escalators in Central Station an early sign of chaos? Why did she need 10 big polis? … Continue reading Prejudging ‘chaotic’ Glasgow

Pandemic shrinking only in Scotland

While all of England and Northern Ireland (wrongly positioned on graph) has an R number above 1 and thus a pandemic out of control, Wales is marginal but, probably, also growing. Only Scotland is recording an R number below 1 and, thus a pandemic under control. Scotland continues to give more booster jags, around 25% more in the last 24 hours. BBC Scotland, indeed all of ‘our’ MSM has no interest in telling you about this but they were very keen to tell when in early September, we had the highest rate. Scotland’s media-endangered species?

I’m grateful to: La Magia del Monte Florida@MoFloMoJo·10hIs that the rats gone then? for prompting this. The Glasgow Refuse Rats have fallen of the front pages and the TV screens. Maybe Good Morning Scotland still has a wee place for them? Perhaps our specials, featuring facts, have spoiled things: The now homeless, rats are rumoured to have been rehomed next to the Glasgow Hospital Pigeons. Remember them? We have a crowd-funder to raise £2.50 for birdseed and past their sell by date monster munches in an effort to attract rats and pigeons back to Pacific Quay: at mediacrap.com Please give … Continue reading Scotland’s media-endangered species?

Labour Civil War as leftist ‘tells’ SNP to ignore Starwar

In the Herald today with an irritatingly bossy choice of language by Pam Duncan-Glancy or Bol, we read: SNP ministers have been told to “urgently” roll out a minimum income guarantee after new statistics revealed soaring numbers of households repeatedly applying for crisis grants. In August, the Scottish Government launched a public consultation on its plans to set up a minimum income guarantee. https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/19683387.snp-told-accelerate-minimum-income-guarantee-plans/ Is this a Labour policy? By July 2020, Keir Starmer had refused to back the idea: https://labourlist.org/2020/07/starmer-hasnt-backed-universal-basic-income-heres-why-he-is-right/ And in his current ‘10 Pledges‘, it’s still not there: https://keirstarmer.com/plans/10-pledges/ Has Duncan-Glancy checked this demand with the Anas … Continue reading Labour Civil War as leftist ‘tells’ SNP to ignore Starwar

Three of BBC Scotland’s latest misses

These reports never happened. I’ve imagined them and mocked them so to speak. You can tell it’s not a BBC Scotland/Scotsman/Herald report with those respectful titles. The Belfast Telegraph managed that one but, of course, she was still ‘Sturgeon.’ Our senior politician speaks regularly on matters of real concern to all of us and you need to dig for them because they need the space for her supposed failures and for the drivel from Sarwar and Ross. Continue reading Three of BBC Scotland’s latest misses

Gert your John Bull Special Torture Beef here!

From the SNP Westminster Press Office The SNP has condemned the Tory government’s post-Brexit race to the bottom in standards, after reports that the former International Trade Secretary Liz Truss blocked plans to ban imports made to low animal welfare standards. The rejected proposals would have made it easier for the UK government to ban products that fell short of standards – including beef from cows kept in confined spaces or eggs from hens caged in dire conditions. According to reports, Truss, who is now Foreign Secretary, blocked plans to maintain high standards as it would have hampered the Tory government’s … Continue reading Gert your John Bull Special Torture Beef here!

Scotland’s booster ‘jab’ programme streaks ahead

Only three days after Ross and Sarwar criticised it, Scotland’s booster programme has fallen off the media coverage to be briefly replaced by delayed ferries again and today, care worker shortages not apparently anything to do with Brexit. Here’s why. Scotland has done 633 722 booster jags, but England, with ten times the population, has not managed to do the same, pro rata, 6 337 220. They have only managed 5 878 316 including some faked data based on 3rd jags for some groups. Why can’t they do accurate stats? Scotland has thus booster jagged 10% more overall and has … Continue reading Scotland’s booster ‘jab’ programme streaks ahead

Sarwar in the sewers to find Glasgow less ratty than London?

Moving on, for now, from shouting the names of dead children at the First Minister, in TV debates, Scottish Labour Leader, Anas Sewer is alerting us to Glasgow’s ‘One million rats!’ It does seem a lot. A million of anything always does. A million votes for Scottish Labour!!?? OK, too far. Anyhow Mhairi Hunter’s twitter thread today puts it in context as we see that London has nearly 20 million rats. You won’t be surprised to hear that my wee numbers-brain fired up at the sight of those millions. London population 9 million, so every Londoner gets 2.2 rats. Glasgow … Continue reading Sarwar in the sewers to find Glasgow less ratty than London?

Care staff shortages a Union disbenefit

Of course, Brexit and the Tories’ hostile environment don’t get a mention. Around 10 000 care workers in Scotland in 2018, were EU nationals, nearly 6% of the workforce. https://www.gov.scot/publications/contribution-non-uk-eu-workers-social-care-workforce-scotland/ BBC Scotland’s report on their website and broadcast last night and perhaps today too, makes no mention of the B word. It does mention that care workers have gone to better pay and conditions jobs, delivery driving and supermarkets – think about that. Amazon? Why are the care services not paying better wages and offering better conditions? We know now that the larger corporate homes were at maximum occupancy and … Continue reading Care staff shortages a Union disbenefit
