Writer at large and off his trolley?
Comparing the SNP to a French high-wire artist, walking between the Twin Towers in 1974, The Herald’s ‘Writer at Large’ stumbles and falls again, more a circus clown than a mental gymnast? Here’s the gist: On social media, Mackay will be getting it. I won’t join in other than to suggest a new title – ‘Writer off his trolley?‘ So, massive popularity for the leader and the party, in repeated polls, opposition parties in comic disarray, a pandemic controlled with a masterful display of competence, majority support for closing the border…..’a sense of mounting calamity?’ Really? Really? I know it’s … Continue reading Writer at large and off his trolley?
Scotland ‘most attractive’ for floating wind farms
The above report sponsored by the Carbon Trust and the Scottish Government confirms what most of us already knew: As expected, these Scottish locations are presented as part of the UK which they are, for the moment. This, below, details the huge Scottish floating wind farms and reminds us of how the UK Government is constraining further growth: Continue reading Scotland ‘most attractive’ for floating wind farms
Covid-19 NOT in Scotland but still worthy of a wee scare for you: The power of nightmares
So 93 migrant farm workers ARE infected but still it’s not the headline story for BBC England. The global race issue and the deep national soul-searching over slavery is, correctly I’d say, the big issue. In BBC Scotlandworld: A group of farm workers in Scotland have been quarantined after they were on the same flight as people who travelled to a coronavirus-hit farm. Some of them were on a flight bringing agricultural workers to the UK which included 63 people heading to Scotland. Testing has been made available to them and none has shown Covid symptoms. So, three days for … Continue reading Covid-19 NOT in Scotland but still worthy of a wee scare for you: The power of nightmares

Jackson Carlaw stands with Priti Patel and betrays his care home owner donors
On Reporting Scotland, last night, Carlaw stood firm behind the Home Office edcit on care home workers from the EU: Carlaw said: If we find after it’s come into place that there are still deficiencies then those are things that can be corrected but I don’t automatically (sic) believe that the care home sector will be unable to recruit the right people inot it. As I say, I think the important thing is that we see the skills and reward within the care home sector reflected and properly recognised given the work that they’ve done over the last few months. … Continue reading Jackson Carlaw stands with Priti Patel and betrays his care home owner donors
Sarah Smith accused of pro-SNP bias by shock jock, shock!
Headlines you never thought you’d hear? Have you heard Dan Wootton? His voice is astounding. I had a headache within seconds. Even stranger though is his apparent belief that Sarah Smith is helping the independence movement. Here’s the English Daily Express on the story: Speaking on talkRADIO Dan Wootton hit out at the BBC’s Scottish Editor Sarah Smith claiming she had broadcast an SNP puff piece on during the flagship news bulletin. The radio host also lashed out at Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP for using the COVID-19 pandemic to pursue Scottish independence. Mr Wootton said: “I believe Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP … Continue reading Sarah Smith accused of pro-SNP bias by shock jock, shock!
Professor Stephen Reicher says good things about Scotland but still believes the myths about lock-down delay and hospital transfers here
Professor Reicher often speaks well of Scottish Government but like many English experts seems to feel the need to balance the account and does so by repeating myths loved by opposition parties: He has not replied. Continue reading Professor Stephen Reicher says good things about Scotland but still believes the myths about lock-down delay and hospital transfers here
England’s unending death toll 80 times higher per head of population is down to your party and the men you dare not question
Yesterday, England’s 7 day average covid death toll (80.6) was 806 times higher than for Scotland (0.1). Her population is only 10 times greater. Pro-rata then the toll is 80 times greater. This toll is a result of the failure to control infection levels with clear messaging and firm lock-down: The Conservative and SNP governments have been in control for at least the last decade. The Scottish Conservatives are members of the only Conservative Party in the UK: This is your leader. His policies are your policies. The death at his door is at your door too. Continue reading England’s unending death toll 80 times higher per head of population is down to your party and the men you dare not question
Scottish Conservative rejects UK Conservative principles to ask NHS Scotland to be even less like NHS England
In the Herald today, from David Bol: A SENIOR Tory MSP has called for clinical health experts to “call the shots” in the NHS amid proposals to implement a “much greater culture of collaboration”. Miles Briggs, the Scottish Conservatives’ health spokesperson, has set out his ideas for reforming the NHS in Scotland in light of problems the institution has faced during the Covid-19 outbreak. Senior Conservatives across the UK have been shocked by this radical socialist language from Briggs and wish to remind him of their proud history of undermining the NHS at every opportunity: ‘Tories resent the NHS’ In recent years, Conservative governments … Continue reading Scottish Conservative rejects UK Conservative principles to ask NHS Scotland to be even less like NHS England
UK Government graph reveals Scotland’s relative infection level to be invisibly small!
This UK Government graph shared with me by a regular feeder of The Tusker who wishes to remain anon, inadvertently reveals the extent to which Scotland has repressed the virus and the failure in England & Wales to do the same. The vertical scale of the graph to allow the full horror of our situation at the peak in April, as the Scottish Government began its tough lock-down to save lives, makes that clear. Also, clear is the relative insignificance of the infection levels in Scotland thereafter as the numbers become too small to show and the worrying persistence of … Continue reading UK Government graph reveals Scotland’s relative infection level to be invisibly small!
