SHOCK: Scotland NOT lagging behind on vaccinations!

BBC UK, once again, not doing what BBC Scotland prefer and presenting information revealing that we’re not lagging behind. This time is was vaccinations. Surely we’re behind. Did Alex Cole-Hamilton not say that recently? He would make it up would he? Of course comparisons are pointless unless they show Scotland in a bad light. How is England doing? 95%? Good, unless of course it’s just ‘offered’ and not really ‘jabbed.’ Wales, I’m sure they ‘re ahead: What? Really? Behind? Northern Ireland? No way! Can’t be. These are official figures? BBC Scotland clearly knows better than to use them. Continue reading SHOCK: Scotland NOT lagging behind on vaccinations!

Yes but per head of population?

.…with almost 315 000 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours and more than 2 000 more deaths.‘ Yes, but India has a population of 1.36 billion compared to England’s 56 million. So how bad this is, is relative: India has 24 times the population but that figure of 315 000 cases in day is only around 6 times more than the 53 200 at the peak in January. So the infection rate in England in January 2021 was FOUR times higher than in India today. Over the whole pandemic, India has had far fewer cases: And deaths? At … Continue reading Yes but per head of population?

LABOUR MANIFESTO: PUTTING SCOTLAND’S RECOVERY IN BORIS JOHNSON’S HANDS

From SNP Media: On the launch of the Scottish Labour manifesto, the SNP has said Anas Sarwar’s plans will put Scotland’s future firmly in Boris Johnson’s hands – threatening the future of Scotland’s NHS and the powers of the Scottish Parliament. Commenting, SNP Depute Leader Keith Brown said: “These are serious times which require the experienced leadership of Nicola Sturgeon to guide Scotland through the pandemic and into recovery.  “Despite their rhetoric, the hard fact is Labour is happy to sit back and leave Scotland’s future in the hands of Boris Johnson. “No party that supports the Tories’ job-destroying hard Brexit or is … Continue reading LABOUR MANIFESTO: PUTTING SCOTLAND’S RECOVERY IN BORIS JOHNSON’S HANDS

SCOTTISH LABOUR NHS FOUR-YEAR FUNDING BLACK HOLE

From SNP Media: The SNP has highlighted a black hole in NHS funding in the Scottish Labour manifesto – with no funding commitments made beyond 2021/22, failing the NHS in its recovery out of lockdown and creating a four-year funding gap. The Scottish Labour manifesto not only fails to make real commitments for the future of the NHS, it also fails to even guarantee protecting spending as it is now. Scottish Labour’s manifesto also failed to commit to backing free dental care, keeping free prescriptions, and keeping free hospital parking. It also fails to back the replacement of the Edinburgh Eye Pavilion … Continue reading SCOTTISH LABOUR NHS FOUR-YEAR FUNDING BLACK HOLE

Chumocracy now!

From Crowd Justice today: “The more detail we uncover on PPE contracts awarded by the Government, the more serious the questions that arise,” say Good Law Project. They’ve uncovered a new PPE contract, despite Boris Johnson declaring that all COVID contracts were “on the record” in February 2021. Last summer, Pharmaceuticals Direct Limited was handed a £102.6 million contract without any competition. The company’s named representative was Samir Jassal, “a well-connected figure within the Conservative Party” having worked as an advisor under David Cameron and donated to the party. Good Law Project have now launched legal proceedings “to protect public funds … Continue reading Chumocracy now!

Sarwar bobs uncertainly: A tale of two polls

Two polls on the Holyrood Election 2021 published on the same day, reveal just how important it is to not let just one affect you too much. The Savanta Com Res poll for the Scotsman, as often before, has the SNP a bit down and the Tories stronger than we’d expect. It also has Labour lagging 5 points behind the Tories despite their leader Sarwar’s allegedly strong media performances. YouGov for the Times has the SNP steady on 49% and with a massive 28% lead over the Tories who are down 3 points on their previous poll on 22nd March. … Continue reading Sarwar bobs uncertainly: A tale of two polls

The death of truth: how we gave up on facts and ended up with the Herald

That is an outright lie and it’s an outright lie aimed at deceiving the public on behalf of one party as it struggles in an election campaign. For the more than the umpteenth time, the report referred to found no meaningful link between hospital discharges into care homes and outbreak in those homes. Five earlier reports across the UK also found no such evidence. All of the reports found a strong link between the size of a care home and outbreaks. The larger ones, corporate-owned, high occupancy and with staffing problems plugged by itinerant agency staff travelling between sites, were … Continue reading The death of truth: how we gave up on facts and ended up with the Herald

Tories prefer free ports WITH crime

From SNP Media: The SNP has slammed a Scottish Conservative manifesto pledge which claims to support freeports across Scotland – despite the UK government dragging their heels over the Scottish Government’s greenport proposal. SNP candidate Ivan McKee has criticised the Tories for failing to support the initiative while trying to make political capital out of it. The SNP Scottish Governments greenport proposals created widespread interest from stakeholders who backed the focus on high standards, workers’ rights and green industries in addition to the trade and investment benefits they would bring.  However, due to the Tories refusal to agree to the implementation, Scotland’s ports now … Continue reading Tories prefer free ports WITH crime

Scotland to soar further ahead on affordable housing

From SNP Media: Nicola Sturgeon will today (Wednesday) say that the SNP’s record on affordable housing stands head and shoulders above that of the other parties, as she pledges to deliver 100,000 affordable homes in Scotland over the next decade. Highlighting how investment in Scotland is significantly higher than the rest of the UK – with more affordable homes being delivered as a result – she will say that Housing is key to delivering economic growth, tackling poverty and meeting Scotland’s climate targets. Other key SNP housing commitments include investing £1.6bn in the next parliament to decarbonise the heating of … Continue reading Scotland to soar further ahead on affordable housing

BBC Reporting Scotland unable to rule IN a link with Covid outbreaks

Headlining on Reporting Scotland today: A new report on patients discharged from hospitals into care homes at the start of the pandemic says it can’t rule out a link with Covid outbreaks. This is the sixth official report, to my knowledge, from such as the ONS and the health services in Scotland, England and Wales, to find no evidence that hospital discharges caused outbreaks in care homes and thus triggered the mass deaths there. The large-scale ONS and MHA studies did, however, suggest a significant role for agency staff moving between the larger (corporate) care homes. BBC Scotland staff cling … Continue reading BBC Reporting Scotland unable to rule IN a link with Covid outbreaks
