Scotland now has lowest weekly Covid death rate in UK but it’s not in your interest to know
BBC Scotland has more important tasks than telling that news. They’re far to busy supporting bar and restaurant owners with no degrees in epidemiology but casting doubt on the vaccine passports even though every prof thinks they’re a very good thing. They’re far to busy trying to drag Scotland into the cricket racism story – don’t think you’re any better! They’re far to busy worrying you with money problems and murder. They’re far to busy distracting you with stories about Gogglebox, elderly black belts in Karate and dog poo. Where would they find the space for falling death rates. It’s … Continue reading Scotland now has lowest weekly Covid death rate in UK but it’s not in your interest to know
Not just wrong but the opposite of what SNP minister said
The Scottish Government has published a contingency plan with the possibility of part-lockdowns of sorts but it’s a contingency plan. If they didn’t have one the opposition parties would be shouting about that. Here’s what the Deputy First Minister actually said, the real headline: People in Scotland can expect a “normal Christmas” with some Covid measures, the deputy first minister has said. John Swinney told the BBC that the extension of the vaccine passport scheme and other mitigations would help people live normally. Last winter Scotland was under the toughest level of lockdown restrictions from 26 December until March. Mr … Continue reading Not just wrong but the opposite of what SNP minister said
Merely additional Tory member admits he too did little for the money
Selected by his own party processes after winning only 11.9% in the 2016 Holyrood election, with Annie Wells, Prof Adam Tomkins enters the Tory infight over second jobs with an admittedly novel tactic. Tomkin’s wiki page has been thoroughly disinfected to hide his past. In 2017, the Herald wrote of him: under the headline: It’s a damascene move no less sudden and sharp than Kevin McKenna’s journey to Yes, but more convincing for being a well-known path, as trendy young lefties lose their passion for helping the poor and get a taste for corporate or state rewards, if they do. … Continue reading Merely additional Tory member admits he too did little for the money
Us? Us????
Kevin McKenna, along with Michael Fry, the National ticks the diversity box by allowing space to utterly unconvincing independence supporters. Just over 10 years ago, this was McKenna, utterly and openly opposed to independence: For a decade now he has postured as a Yes supporter after his sudden damascene moment. Meatloaf-like his song is ‘I would do anything for Indy but I won’t vote for that….SNP.’ Now, I know some Yes supporters claim to disapprove of the SNP’s ways, but you have to wonder just how many when you consider that the SNP tends to get a bigger share of … Continue reading Us? Ratty gets a blow dry?
He was funny at times. He was sharp and imaginative at times but remarkably lazy, predictable and Tory-boyish on Nicola Sturgeon as he had been with his dated comments on Glasgow last week. That headline of mine is funny isn’t it? He does look ratty toothed and furry-faced with a new big quiff. Just joking eh? This week, early on, he told us: Nicola Sturgeon, the only person in the world who can squint with her whole face, who has the air of a step-mum who is happy for you to hear her fucking your dad but loses her mind … Continue reading Ratty gets a blow dry?
Oooh! SNP Government fails to look after furniture shock?
used at the COP26 summit are being stored in tents. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone OMG! BBC Scotland understands? SNP Government accused of failing to plan storage for chairs and tables paid for by taxpayers? Well, no, they were a gift from IKEA. They’re going to be given to charities and we hear that but, for some reason, Reporting Scotland focus on the borderline possibility of neglect rather than the good news story. Conor Gillies’ open sentence in the website report is: Thousands of items of brand new furniture used inside COP26 venues are being stored inside tents outside Glasgow, and they could be … Continue reading Oooh! Scotland’s emergency services performance improves for second week despite increased attendance to leave NHS England far behind
In the week-ending 7 November, NHS Scotland’s A&E departments saw 24 334 attendances, up from 243 132, yet performance improved. From 69.6% on 24 October, 71.4% on 31 October, to 73.8% on 7th November, we see three weeks of improvement. NHS England only do monthly data so, for October 2021, they did 61.9% in 4 hours, down from 64% in September. NHS Scotland’s A&E departments are roughly 20% better. Scottish businesses far more robust than before pandemic
Based on a subjective, with agenda-driven responses, survey and adopting typically demonising reporting, Scotland’s MSM leap as if they had SFA research skills, into a complete misrepresentation of the facts. The facts? These ones, found by my research officer (14) in 5 minutes: So, total insolvencies are now a third of the level in 2012 and just over half that in the months before the pandemic emerged (Q4 2019)? Who can we blame for this resilience? That SNP Government? Continue reading Scottish businesses far more robust than before pandemic
Fear OR loathing in Wales and Scotland
Regular readers will know all about the Welsh Connection where a comparison with BBC Wales reporting reveals them be sort of professional, rarely mentioning and blaming government ministers for failures in public services managed by independent boards, or giving a platform for all the opposition parties to then blame them. The report above, unusually, does allow one business leader, one pub owner and one theatre director to be be concerned about vaccine passport rules. The language is one of fear of what may happen but no loathing expressed of this making tough decisions. The business leader does get to say … Continue reading Fear OR loathing in Wales and Scotland
BBC balance? ‘Most’ business leaders are selfish, greedy bar stewards?
are against stricter measures. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone So, more than 11 000 excess deaths and that’s an important piece of news for ‘our’ national public service broadcaster as the Scottish Government moves to control such deaths with new measures? Have they even done a survey of business leaders? Thought not. Only in Scotland, are the views of so-called business leaders and non-experts on pandemics, prioritised in this way. In a YouGov poll in June 2021, 71% of people would support a requirement for attendees to large events to prove they had been vaccinated against COVID-19 or had recently tested negative for the … Continue reading BBC balance? ‘Most’ business leaders are selfish, greedy bar stewards?
