BBC Scotland pushes back against surge in support for Independence with racism
Former (?) Tory Youth chairman, accused of anti-Semitism in 2018, but of course ‘a proud Scot’, James Bundy appears again on BBC Scotland to push the latest strategy to counter the surge in support for independence, apparent in repeated polls recently. Though the move is led by and thus somewhat undermined right at the start by the sickly comedy twins, Galloway and Gove, a more dangerous covert element as in Bundy, is appearing across Scottish media to pretend a more grassroots support for the idea. The franchise for a Scottish independence referendum was established and in 2013 and passed by … Continue reading BBC Scotland pushes back against surge in support for Independence with racism
BBC Scotland’s The Nine allows Young Conservative accused of anti-Semitism to promote racist ideas
For BBC Scotland, allowing political extremists airtime with their affiliations undisclosed is becoming the New Normal. On Question Time we’ve had a Brexit candidate and a Tory treasurer suspended after joking about Nicola Sturgeon’s miscarriage, appear repeatedly and allowed to shout abuse at the SNP panellists. On Good Morning Scotland and Call Kaye, we hear councillors, activists and other members of the opposition parties and even representatives of the anti-democratic covert media group based in Scotland in Union, appear to attack the SNP or the FM personally, but presented as ordinary members of the public. Now, on The Nine we … Continue reading BBC Scotland’s The Nine allows Young Conservative accused of anti-Semitism to promote racist ideas
Boris triumphant as England eliminates Coronavirus ahead of Scotland
The BBC has a royal charter requiring it to inform the people. Judging by the above, the people of England can relax about Coronavirus. The PM’s optimism has wiped it out. In sharp contrast below, BBC Scotland is keeping the people of Scotland on the alert with TEN reports on the pandemic. I have relatives in England. Time for a holiday with an overnight stop in Birmingham? Wait, what’s this? 938 new cases in England alone on a Monday? No way. There must be something wrong. Look a the BBC reporting. We can trust the Beeb! 4 deaths (63 in … Continue reading Boris triumphant as England eliminates Coronavirus ahead of Scotland
Coronavirus Update:Who is Tim and who is he to us?
On the BBC News at one, but not in the Reporting Scotland episode just after it, Tim! Tim who? I dunno? They didn’t say. He said: With no hard evidence from the Government what we’ve found or what we are facing is simply a political decision and not a scientific one. and promptly disappeared. What? Eh? Who is Tim? Why is he up a Munro? Is he some kind of social distancing extremist? Did Brian Taylor have to get up there? What group is he affiliated to? What is his point? He can take his mask off while Munro-bagging, I … Continue reading Coronavirus Update:Who is Tim and who is he to us?
Huge? Seventeen? You call that huge?
Across Scotland, as around 700 000 pupils return to school along with tens of thousands of staff, the number of teachers and students, infected IN schools, across the country has soared to a comparative handful – 30? There are 5.4 million people in Scotland and less than 10 schools, to my knowledge, have reported cases in, or more often just linked to, them. There are 3.5 million people in Berlin and 41 schools have reported cases. Now that’s what I call ‘huge.’ Continue reading Huge? Seventeen? You call that huge?
No community spread in Tayside but Herald spreading panic just to get more advertising revenue
A ‘factory outbreak‘ does not mean a virus is spreading. ‘Community spread‘, as the name indicates means the virus is spreading. Several times over the course of this pandemic, Professor Leitch has made the distinction clear, and today, the First Minister reinforced the view that although more than 2 000 workers in three connected factories in Coupar Angus have now been tested, there is ‘no evidence of community transmission‘ ie it has not ‘spread.’ Continue reading No community spread in Tayside but Herald spreading panic just to get more advertising revenue
Not the faces of delay: Where are Grant Shapps and the PM?
By BBC London’s Transport correspondent Tom Edwards: The crucial point to remember with these “opening dates” is no one actually knows when Crossrail will start operating. These dates are now an educated estimate but so many dates have come and gone that no one will trust the latest one. The minister responsible makes this little appearance and escapes unharmed: Transport Secretary Grant Shapps revealed that a team of specialists will join the DfT to tackle delays to infrastructure projects caused by the pandemic. The PM? Dunno…holiday? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-53847738 Continue reading Not the faces of delay: Where are Grant Shapps and the PM?
Monica Lennon warks* the truth about cancer death in a time of coronavirus
The Scottish Labour branch’s Health rep is headlined in the Herald with a typically desperate attempt to exploit an unavoidable consequence of the outbreak with irresponsible and ill-informed claims which, irresponsibly , can only scare the very patients she pretends to care about. Cancer death tsunami? Astonishingly she claims this: More people die from cancer than from Covid-19? Well duh, yes, because the SNP (as she likes to always put it) lock-down strategy has pushed the Covid-19 death rate down to zero for more than a month now, ever widening the gap with Labour Wales and Tory England. Crisis in … Continue reading Monica Lennon warks* the truth about cancer death in a time of coronavirus
Hate Crime Law: The use and abuse of survey results
By stewartb What an appalling report: I’ve now read it through twice and remain confused – even finding the questions asked is a challenge!! To help understand the claimed conclusion in the newspaper about 69% opposing (something!) I searched the text specifically for every occurrence of ‘69%’ – I am none the wiser. Two others things strike me. Firstly, there seems to be use of ‘straw man’ propositions throughout. Their inclusion may confuse and/or ‘condition’ and therefore slant responses. Secondly, (and candidly, this is as best as I can disentangle from this report – but I may well have been … Continue reading Hate Crime Law: The use and abuse of survey results
Updated: Coronavirus Scotland: Expert says return to schools has been ‘overwhelmingly positive’
Update: ‘is‘ replaced by a ‘has been‘. I hope Murdo Fraser and Brian Wilson didn’t see this. There’s only so much they can take from Professor Sridhar’s positive outlook on developments in Covid-19 Scotland. On Channel 4 News again tonight, Professor Sridhar was asked how things are in Scottish schools after one week back and said: The first thing to say is that its overwhelmingly positive. Everyone is really happy that kids are back and it felt like the right moment to return in August. At the same, time, I mean, it has been bumpy, cases have emerged. You can … Continue reading Updated: Coronavirus Scotland: Expert says return to schools has been ‘overwhelmingly positive’
