Matt Hancock, why has England vaccinated far fewer in care homes than they have in Scotland?
On Sunday, Andrew Marr asked the First Minister for Scotland: ‘There will be lots of people at home in Scotland in their eighties, watching this interview, still waiting for their vaccine appointment and reading that down south in England, more than 50% of eighty-year-olds have been vaccinated already. What would you say to them?’ This required her to point out that Scotland had followed the firm and clear guidance from the UK Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation to vaccinate care home staff and residents first and then the over-eighties. As a consequence, Scotland had vaccinated a much higher percentage … Continue reading Matt Hancock, why has England vaccinated far fewer in care homes than they have in Scotland?
The scale of deception
Dr Mike Galsworthy spotted this in the Times/Panelbase poll report today. The gap in the first graph is 5% and 6% in the second but look at how much bigger the bad news for Yes campaign is in that second graph. Continue reading The scale of deception
Hospital admissions down slightly and cases falling to one-third UK rate
It’s bad news all round if you’re a Herald reporter. Hospital admissions fell for the second day, down from 2 053 on the 22nd January to 2 011 in the last 24 hours. ICU bed occupancy also fell for the second time from 161 to 157. Almost certainly triggering these falls, new cases reduced for the 17th day in a row, from 2 649 on 7th January to 1 195 in the last 24 hours. The fall may be accelerating in the last three days, falling from 1 591 to 1 195. There were 30 004 new cases across the … Continue reading Hospital admissions down slightly and cases falling to one-third UK rate
WTF 2
By Alasdair Galloway, the antidote to George Galloway This paper is a follow up to WTF, expressing considerable bewilderment about events surrounding the investigation by the Scottish Parliament of the conduct of Alex Salmond, while still First Minister. Of course, Salmond was found not guilty (or in one case, “not proven”). The focus, now that the possibility of hanging the independence cause on the tree of his guilt (though implications of “aye, but he’s still a bad yin – got away wi’ it, didn’t he?”), has now shifted to the First Minister who was involved in (or organized) a conspiracy … Continue reading WTF 2
First Minister is ready this time and takes marr out with sharp jabs on jags
Perhaps still annoyed by having more complaints than any other BBC show in recent history, after his last interview with the First Minister, and realising that his clearance by the BBC was just another unconvincing whitewash, Marr opened grudgingly and still dishonestly with: The death rate is now below England. Now? Well since November 23rd, after being roughly the same for the whole pandemic period other than the only four weeks his staff found in October, and currently at only half the rate. In what seems now like an official line, he repeats the accusation that Scotland is behind England … Continue reading First Minister is ready this time and takes marr out with sharp jabs on jags
Senior BBC reporter ignorant of JCVI, SHOCK
Interviewed by Marr this morning, Glenn Campbell updates viewers across the UK with ‘evidence’ that Scotland is only now just beginning to catch up on the rest of the UK’s vaccination rate, but is still well behind. Being the ‘pro’ that he is, he inserts: But the Scottish Government would say that is because they have been focusing, first of all on care homes. Why was that Glenn? Why do you think they did that, if it meant they fell behind? Do tell. No? Correct me if I’m wrong, Glenn, but didn’t the independent experts at the UK’s Joint Committee … Continue reading Senior BBC reporter ignorant of JCVI, SHOCK
20 times and climbing but Glenn Campbell does his best (worst)
Glenn Campbell on the Marr show this morning telling us about the ‘trend‘ in Scotland but not mentioning the trend because, well that’s 20 polls with a majority for Yes. Quite a newsworthy trend you’d think? Nope. 52% for Yes in the Times/Panelbase poll he tells us. What bout the No vote? Oh, I suppose it was 48%, so pretty tight? Well, without the Undecided, it was 49/44, a 5% lead. Back to that trend, how does this one compare? Well, the average over the last ten is 7.1%. Interesting? No? Too much hard work? Continue reading 20 times and climbing but Glenn Campbell does his best (worst)
PERFORMERS FACE ‘DOUBLE HIT’ AFTER TORY INACTION ON COVID SUPPORT AND TOURING VISAS
From SNP Media: The SNP has warned that musicians and performers face a ‘double hit’ from the UK government if the Tories fail to act on EU touring visas, on top of three million freelance workers left without a penny of COVID support. Despite calls from SNP MPs and musical icons including Liam Gallagher and Elton John, the UK government has maintained their stance on the issue of EU touring visas – despite Brussels offering a solution during Brexit negotiations. Pete Wishart MP, who has passionately debated the subject in the Commons this week, has toured with world-renowned bands including … Continue reading PERFORMERS FACE ‘DOUBLE HIT’ AFTER TORY INACTION ON COVID SUPPORT AND TOURING VISAS
LABOUR LEADER HOPEFULS CHALLENGED OVER ROGUE COUNCILLORS
From the SNP Media Office: Scottish Labour leadership hopefuls Monica Lennon and Anas Sarwar have been challenged by the SNP to uphold the suspension of nine disgraced councillors. After a shocking 40 months of inaction by the Labour leadership, the nine councillors were formally suspended from the party in October 2020 for propping up the Tories in a power-sharing deal on Aberdeen Council. The group caused outrage by claiming “the Tories have done more to improve the lives of people in disadvantaged communities in Aberdeen than the SNP have ever done”. Speaking last year, former leader Richard Leonard said: “it … Continue reading LABOUR LEADER HOPEFULS CHALLENGED OVER ROGUE COUNCILLORS
Two health union reps, NO wait just one and no evidence whatsoever, but headlined by Reporting Scotland
Reporting Scotland this evening: ‘The growing impact of the pandemic in health care staff has been highlighted by organisations representing Scottish nurses and doctors. The Royal College of Nursing says more and more of its members want to leave the profession and the British Medical Association says doctors are ‘stretched to the limit.’‘ David Cowan then interviewed two funeral directors outside the ‘vast hole‘ that is the Louisa Jordan Hospital. ‘Hole?’ ‘Hole?’ Space? Arena? Hole? So how was ‘the impact, highlighted?’ Well, the BMA guy didn’t appear at all and one RCN rep just told us. We’re worried about the … Continue reading Two health union reps, NO wait just one and no evidence whatsoever, but headlined by Reporting Scotland
