Hate crime running at up to five times higher in non-Scottish parts of UK
England & Wales have roughly 11 times the population yet all forms of reported hate crime are higher in England & Wales. Most strikingly, race-based offences, in 2022, were three times more common and transgender cases five times more so. I dread to think how the trans gap may have narrowed after this disgusting politicising and demonising of the transgender community and the First Minister by our deeply cynical and amoral opposition and their media pals. Hate crime drops in Scotland as it surges elsewhere
I was alerted to the above by reader Dorothy (Dotties Phone) in a tweet by always Anglocentric Dr Deepti Gurdasani, saying: For those who think the UK is an incredibly ‘tolerant’ and inclusive place and what happened in Knowsley isn’t representative, please look at the hate crime stats over the past few years. They don’t paint a picture of ‘tolerance’ and inclusivity. https://mobile.twitter.com/dgurdasani1 I couldn’t help but remember that the trends in Scotland are, in some aspects, down: I’m hoping the increase regarding disability reflects great confidence in reporting. As for the increases in sexual orientation and transgender identity offences, … Continue reading Hate crime drops in Scotland as it surges elsewhere
Scottish Government’s resistance to privatisation in the NHS is saving thousands of lives
In a July 2022 report by the Lancet: “An annual increase of one percentage point of outsourcing to the private for-profit sector corresponded with an annual increase in treatable mortality of 0·38% deaths per 100 000 population in the following year.” https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpub/article/PIIS2468-2667(22)00133-5/fulltext From the Scottish Government in 2019: “We are absolutely committed to a publicly owned and operated NHS, and for the people of Scotland to continue to have free, timely access to health services. Over the last three years Scottish Government spending on health has approached almost £40 billion. The use of the independent sector by the NHS to address … Continue reading Scottish Government’s resistance to privatisation in the NHS is saving thousands of lives
Tom Gordon and the Rev Stu Campbell long-term buddies?
You’d be forgiven for thinking that these two would have little in common given their writing about Scottish independence in the past, but men’s troubles have clearly brought them together to fight a common enemy – the SNP, Nicola and those trans folk who, for some reason still to be admitted, have them anxious and angry. Today in the Herald, Tom Gordon surprises us with: Influential? In January 2021, Stu wrote: Agreeing with Tom Gordon from the Herald is a position that we really don’t like to find ourselves in, readers. But we can’t find fault with a single word … Continue reading Tom Gordon and the Rev Stu Campbell long-term buddies?

Seeking influence with nonsense – the case of the Royal College of General Practitioners Scotland
By stewartb This tale, as with so many on TuS, begins with the BBC. On 12 February, the corporation’s News website again provided a free promotional service to commercial newspapers sold in Scotland: ‘Scotland’s papers: ‘My son the trans rapist’ and GP closure warning’. Prominent in the display of front pages is that of Scotland on Sunday (SoS) with this headline: ‘A third of GP surgeries could shut down in coming months’ See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-64613148 We know that almost anything goes in newspapers sold in Scotland: their dominant political agenda is made crystal clear. And it seems the BBC has no … Continue reading Seeking influence with nonsense – the case of the Royal College of General Practitioners Scotland
Is new Scottish ‘transphobic’ teacher union named after the joke song ‘A boy named Sue?’
Launched by Abertay lecturer, Brexit candidate and Jordan Peterson wannabe, Stuart Waiton, The Scottish Union for Education, SUE, made me laugh. Waiton is openly opposed to the Scottish Government’s gender recognition reforms, has defended the rights of families to put their children through gay and transgender therapy. They latter has been condemned as torture by the UN. In the light of the above views, I’m surprised and entertained by his choice of name for a new teacher union which has as a key aim to oppose children debating transgender issues – SUE. Why? As STV show us England games Scottish football is best attended in Europe!
I know, it doesn’t always look that way when you see broadcasts not involving the big Scottish clubs but the numbers tell no lies. Why is it the best attended? I know, because BBC Scotland and STV rarely show it, preferring to give us England internationals? Continue reading As STV show us England games Scottish football is best attended in Europe!
