Any slip by the SNP leadership and we read gleeful predictions that support is under threat. Every successive opinion poll seems to suggest unaffected, even increased, support. So, today’s poll by Deltapoll based on fieldwork on 26th-30th December, the first since the the face mask slip on the 22nd, has SNP support at 49%. There were 2 464 new cases in the last 24 hours. There were 2 137 in the previous 24 hours and 2 539 before that. For three days the rate has been lower than the peak of 2 622 on the 31st. The rate is higher than before but it’s not ‘soaring.’ Melodrama helps no one. This looks like the stabilisation in the rate you get after tougher measures kick in and before it begins to fall. From Clyde 1 today: Scotland has the highest percentage of council areas which are recognised as Fairtrade areas compared with the rest of the UK, according to new statistics. Fairtrade UK data shows that 21 of Scotland’s 32 council areas (65%) are Fairtrade areas, compared with just 33% of councils in England and 41% in Wales. Endorsing Fairtrade products and practices means farmers in developing countries get a fair price for their products and are not exploited.
