Plunge in trade between the UK and the EU

From SNP Media The SNP has said that only with the full powers of an independent country will Scotland be able to secure a fair, strong and equal recovery, after new statistics revealed a plunge in trade between the UK and the EU due to the impact of Brexit and the pandemic. The latest figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that between Oct-Dec 2020 and the first quarter of this year, trade between the UK and EU, excluding precious metals, fell by 20.3%. A route map for delivering a fairer Scotland

From SNP Media: THE SNP has today published the findings of its Social Justice and Fairness Commission, set up by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to present a route map for delivering a fairer Scotland. The report offers a conversation starter to find consensus about the kind of Scotland … Continue reading A route map for delivering a fairer Scotland

BBC Scotland tries to blame vaccine no-shows on SNP

Headlining for BBC Scotland, a report on vaccine no-shows in one centre, features an early and repeated suggestion that letters arriving late may have been the cause and Tory MSP Annie Wells implying that this is the cause and that ‘SNP ministers must give health boards the resources to ensure that people’s details are fully up-to-date.‘ BBC Wales on the 30th March reporting on no-shows in Swansea featured no such allegations and suggested instead: ‘people needed to ensure their GPs had their correct address.‘ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56575733 BBC England/UK? They’re not even reporting no-shows as an issue. What’s the research evidence? A … Continue reading BBC Scotland tries to blame vaccine no-shows on SNP

Scotland did not vote for this

From SNP Media The SNP has hit back at Priti Patel over her comments that the British public voted for ramping up immigration raids – saying Scotland “absolutely did not vote for them” or the Tory government. The comments follow the Home Secretary’s announcement to punish asylum seekers who arrive in the UK via irregular routes – as the overwhelming majority of people fleeing persecution do. Under the proposals, people who enter the UK via irregular routes seeking asylum won’t have the same entitlements as those who arrive through official channels, such as resettlement schemes. The UN has condemned these plans. Priti … Continue reading Scotland did not vote for this

The strongest sense of identity and smart enough to know why?

Even before a decade and more of Tory policies hammering us more strongly into knowing who we are, the people of Scotland had by far the strongest sense of identity and so, potentially the strongest of cases for autonomy. And, the above is no blood and soil, uneducated ethnic nationalism like that found in parts of England but based on the most educated population in Europe: Can we take some pride in this? Just a bit? Creep feeding his own myths?

The SNP has said Douglas Ross faces a ‘big test’ of his promise to stand up for Scotland’s farmers ‘every single time’ in the face of a Tory trade deal with Australia which would see Scotland’s beef and lamb farmers undercut – threatening their future. Writing in the Scottish Farmer magazine in September 2020, the Scottish Tory leader penned an open letter to Scotland’s farmers promising that he would stand up for them on a bigger platform. However, he has been silent in the face of proposals in the Tories’ trade deal with Australia that would see Scotland’s farmers undercut … Continue reading Creep feeding his own myths?

Gentleman farmer Jack now in hiding from farmers?

From SNP Media: The SNP has said Alister Jack must ‘fight back or resign’ over the damaging Tory trade deal with Australia, which threatens the future of Scottish farmers and crofters. In a letter today, Ian Blackford MP urged the Tory Scottish Secretary to “break your deafening silence” on the issue and lead an urgent fightback against a zero-tariff, zero-quota deal, which would undercut the price and standards of Scottish beef and lamb – putting Scottish farmers out of business.  The SNP Westminster Leader said the issue was of such importance to farming communities in Scotland that the Scottish Secretary must be ready … Continue reading Gentleman farmer Jack now in hiding from farmers?
