‘Stench grows stronger by the day over Johnson’s suppression of watchdog findings’

From SNP media: The SNP today demands Prime Minister Boris Johnson immediately releases the findings of a parliament standards watchdog report into the mystery bill for his holiday to Mustique 16 months ago.According to newspaper reports, commissioner for standards Kathryn Stone believes Boris Johnson’s luxury Caribbean holiday was worth more than double the £15,000 he declared in the Commons register. Ms Stone also said the bill for the trip to the private island with fiancee Carrie Symonds in 2019 had not been picked up by Tory donor David Ross as the Prime Minister has claimed. Mr Johnson is reported to … Continue reading ‘Stench grows stronger by the day over Johnson’s suppression of watchdog findings’

What can Mark Smith’s ‘reasonable’ friends do about the SNP? Join? Support?

I’ve been told by my GP not to read Smith or Gordon but sometimes, I get drawn in by the stupid headline. WTF can he possibly mean? Then it’s too late. He begins: TODAY’S column begins with me going to the pub and drinking Guinness, but bear with me because the pub I visited, and where it is, and the people I was with, all of it does matter. And there’s truth to be found in pubs. Even late on Friday night. Especially late on Friday night. And it raises a big question: what are reasonable people to do about … Continue reading What can Mark Smith’s ‘reasonable’ friends do about the SNP? Join? Support?

India’s second wave is slowing down

Here’s a story that does not fit. The graphs in the report above and this below from the FT tell some very newsworthy but uncomfortable stories: The BBC has sent it’s teams scurrying around the globe looking for greater Covid crises than those in England in January. Brazil, the USA and, recently, India, have provide a form of infection-porn for their viewers with ‘images that may disturb viewers’ but, hopefully, keep them watching. None ever reached the the tsunami of death in England in January. India, the most looked-at, seems to be recovering, off-screen, far below the peak in England, … Continue reading India’s second wave is slowing down

No other country tolerates such foul lies!

The most trusted government and politician in Europe, acted to save thousands of lives, many the mothers and fathers of those poor souls who buy this trash. Though tied to the herd immunity madness of Professor Whitty in the first months, and sabotaged by Johnson’s delays and unwillingness to control airport arrivals from infection hotspots, they have kept infections and deaths to far lower levels with clear, consistent messaging, following JCVI advice on care home vaccinations to the letter and keeping test and trace within public health authorities who know how to do it. I feel sick and angry. What … Continue reading No other country tolerates such foul lies!

Boris Johnson: We took our eye off the ball on Indian variant deaths

The modified headline, we’ve provide for the BBC report above, seems fair in the light of this: Here is the effect of the delay, the failure to put India on the red list sooner: Given the much lower vaccination rates in these communities, deaths will follow.

Continue reading Boris Johnson: We took our eye off the ball on Indian variant deaths

A third Johnson delay risks another spike and border controls

For the third time the PM has allowed his debt to business interests delay crucial decisions to control the virus. You can see from the graph above, clearly, that India should have been put on the red list at least two weeks earlier when Pakistan and Bangladesh were added on the 9th April. For political reasons, a trade deal with India, he delayed until it was too late and infection rates were many times higher than in Pakistan and Bangladesh. All three have links with large communities in England and, of course on the Southside of Glasgow. We now face … Continue reading A third Johnson delay risks another spike and border controls

‘Inappropriately touching women’ OK for a Lib Dem/ Tory alliance, Willie, Douglas….Anas?

In 2018, this man was found guilty of inappropriate behaviour toward four women in a context of his greater power. His several offences included putting his hand down the back of a woman’s top. In the above report: The Standards Commission for Scotland ruled that Cllr Moore made “unwarranted and inappropriate physical contact” with Cllrs Bell and Speed, along with two council officers. Moore was suspended from any role in the administration but not sacked as a councillor or as a Lib Dem member. He quit the party in March and has now joined an all-male Conservative/Independent coalition to keep … Continue reading ‘Inappropriately touching women’ OK for a Lib Dem/ Tory alliance, Willie, Douglas….Anas?

400 women ‘harmed’ in hospital but Health Secretary not concerned

BBC England in Derbyshire report yesterday: A woman who claims her marriage was wrecked by a drug prescribed by a consultant gynaecologist, who is under investigation, said she wants answers. The patient said she took the drug given to her by Daniel Hay for three years, when it should have been used for a maximum of eight weeks. Nearly 400 women who were treated by the doctor are being contacted as part of a review into his care. The trust Mr Hay worked for said they must “learn from what happened”. There is no mention of the Health Secretary for … Continue reading 400 women ‘harmed’ in hospital but Health Secretary not concerned

‘School leader’ denies he gave A pass to golf partner’s boy!

The Herald clearly has a hotline to teacher’s union reps, to ‘parent groups’ with tiny membership and to ‘school leaders who do not want to be named.’ They headline today with another piece of shoddy journalism making a story out of almost no evidence: Schools face “chaos” after the summer holidays due to the Scottish Qualifications Authority’s decision to introduce an extended results deadline, according to criticisms that are fuelling demands for an overhaul of alternative assessment. New guidance says a “limited opportunity” to provide provisional grades by September 3 is being created to ensure “a degree of equity” for those … Continue reading ‘School leader’ denies he gave A pass to golf partner’s boy!

Good infection control in only 1 in 21 Scottish care homes: Where the blame really lies

Regulars here will know that countering MSM and opposition party lies about care home deaths is a daily task in TuS so here is more evidence that the blame for outbreaks and death lies with the owners and not the Scottish Government. Care home inspections recommenced in February 2021. From then until this month, there have been 21 full inspections. None were rated ‘Very good‘ and only one was rated ‘Good‘ on ‘Infection control practices support a safe environment for people experiencing care and staff.’ 15 were rated ‘Adequate‘, 4 ‘Weak‘ and 1 ‘Unsatisfactory.’ Apparently adequate infection control reports might … Continue reading Good infection control in only 1 in 21 Scottish care homes: Where the blame really lies
