‘The BBC discovered at least seven preventable deaths since 2016’ and ‘four further families have now spoken out saying their babies would not have died if medics had provided better care’ but all ‘the government’ need do is to ‘receive the Healthcare Safety Branch’s report into the 25 cases later, as well as a Care Quality Commission report from an inspection carried out in January.’ Also, ‘In two of the cases, the mothers said the actions of the trust left them feeling they were to blame for their babies’ deaths.’

Can you imagine what Lisa Summers might make of the above? Can you see the tear-sodden extended interviews so close that you can see the tears? Can you guess just how many days the story would be extended over? Seven? More?
In the four English reports above, there is not one mention of the health secretary by name and certainly no suggestion that he might be responsible or, don’t be daft, resign. There is no interview with an opposition politician where they might be allowed to rant and to demand that heads must roll. It occurs to neither the BBC nor the opposition to politicise these tragedies. They know the health board is responsible.
But in Scotland:

This is an editorial policy and a culture among reporters in BBC Scotland which may damage the SNP far more than any sex scandal could and it should be called-out by the leadership.

BBC2 news is acually just reporting this, complete with tearful parents at 09.20 Monday but certainly no cries for the Health Secretary (can’t remember who he/she is) having to resign. And, as you point out, John, this is just one in a series of failures regarding hte deaths of some already very sick children in NHS England hospitals.

Thank. Hancock. Sometimes bias is less clear but this is stark.

Thanks for highlighting this.
By the way, most Elizabeths on this island, including the Queen and myself, spell our name with a z, not an s, which is the continental version.

You sure? Isn’t the zed insertion American as in civilization?

The comparison is very clear – BBC Scotland is using NHS to attack the Scottish government (the government of the people of Scotland). The sis not just an attack on the SNP, it is a spit in the face of every person who voted during the last Scottish Parliamentary elections.

There was an interview this morning with the Chief Medical Officer on Good Morning Scotland about the fact that clinics in Glasgow and Edinburgh have been set up to do the tests for coronavirus. I thought the tone of the interview was frosty, with the Chief Medical Officer being curt and precise in her replies. Her tone was quite cold. I suspect that she is justifiably angered by the persistent monstering of NHS Scotland by BBC Scotland and the consequent lowering of morale amongst NHS Staff in Scotland.
Gillian Marles seemed eager to focus on the fact that if a test in Glasgow or Edinburgh proves positive, the sample will still have to be sent to the clinic in London for confirmation.
The CMO, without prompting stated that although there had not yet been a case in Scotland, it was very likely due to the epidemiological trends. Again, her tone was flat and factual. I suspect, too, that this was in response to the BBC Scotland (we-hope-this-will-occur-so-that-we-can-attack-NHS-Scotland) “report” implying that any UK case would be in Scotland.

Very interesting. It may be on RS later. Interesting to see the facial expression.
