Sociopath: Sturgeon ‘as bad as Johnson’

Macwhirter returns to his favourite hobby, playing the creepy journalist uncle and self-proclaimed ‘sociopath’ (below) as he pursues the First Minister and by implication her ‘new best friend’ Prof Devi Sridhar, with the same old lies about her being no better than Johnson in terms of her pandemic response. I’ve done him before but I guess he doesn’t follow me and if he did, he still wouldn’t follow me. He writes today: I’ll get to the festering content but first, where is the evidence? Where are the quotes? He was just there. An older guy remembering things last year. Like … Continue reading Sociopath: Sturgeon ‘as bad as Johnson’

Undeclared Lib Dem attacks Covid helpline

When Sir Prof John Curtice had trouble with the Covid helpline last week it was front page news. You’d think someone like him, who knows about statistical samples and significance, might have realised his single case might be too wee a sample but no, too important for that, he went straight to the media. Back in February, it was rabid Unionist, Ian Rankin, author of the Rubbish series, whose son was ‘forgotten’ by the vaccine programme. Several wrote to me in response praising the same helpline. Might the MSM have reported those? Today, we have another one, one, in the … Continue reading Undeclared Lib Dem attacks Covid helpline

Accused ‘proves’ innocence with ‘evidence’ they wrote themselves?

In the Herald today: An SNP MP has been left red-faced after accusing the Scotland Office of spending money on social media advertising during the election period, when they did not do so. A leaked letter, obtained by the Herald, shows the UK Government department has confirmed to the Scottish Affairs committee that it spent nothing on social media adverts during the period of Purdah, despite being accused of doing so by the SNP’s Deidre Brock. I, of course, cannot ‘prove’ that the Scotland Office, staffed by Tories, have lied here but I bet I’m not the only one twitching. Remember this? … Continue reading Accused ‘proves’ innocence with ‘evidence’ they wrote themselves?

Andrew Marr no longer interested in Scotland’s Covid deaths

Readers will remember how in November 2020 Andrew Marr used the only 4 weeks in the whole pandemic when Covid deaths were higher in Scotland than in England to attack the Scottish Government’s performance. The death rate in Scotland has been the lowest in the UK for 4 weeks now but neither Marr nor any other broadcaster is interested: Only in Scotland has the death fallen to zero on several days but, again, no interest. Stunning success of Scotland IVF service ignored

From NHS Scotland: The impact of COVID-19 continues to affect the number of patients that can be screened but all IVF Centres remained open and screening appointments continued during the national lockdown announced in December 2020. In each quarter 100% of all patients were waiting for 52 weeks or less. Actually 100% of … Continue reading Stunning success of Scotland IVF service ignored

Though surrounded by windfarms Scots pay more for electricity

From SNP Media: New research shows that Scots electricity consumers are by the far the most financially discriminated against when it comes to the Westminster government’s charging scheme for electricity. The UK’s current electricity network favours imports at the expense of schemes in the UK – putting at risk the opportunity for green investment, jobs and economic growth in Scotland, and driving up household bills. The analysis by RIDG (Renewable Infrastructure Development Group) shows that the UK government’s system “favours investment in the south of England and the EU” rather than Scotland, and is ultimately paid for by consumers as part of their bills. Scottish … Continue reading Though surrounded by windfarms Scots pay more for electricity

Top adviser confirms that NHS England delayed care home vaccinations and thousands died

I’m grateful to reader Fiona McBean who alerted me to the words of top UK Government adviser Jenny Harries who said, on the Marr show last Sunday that: ‘Because of the temperature issues the Pfizer was given to e.g. health care workers who tended to be younger. The Astra Zeneca went to older groups of individuals who were less able to come into main centres.’ Fiona suggests: ‘This would appear to confirm that in England no effort was made to take Pfizer to care homes and that they waited until the arrival of AZ in the new year as we … Continue reading Top adviser confirms that NHS England delayed care home vaccinations and thousands died

Plunge in trade between the UK and the EU

From SNP Media The SNP has said that only with the full powers of an independent country will Scotland be able to secure a fair, strong and equal recovery, after new statistics revealed a plunge in trade between the UK and the EU due to the impact of Brexit and the pandemic. The latest figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that between Oct-Dec 2020 and the first quarter of this year, trade between the UK and EU, excluding precious metals, fell by 20.3%. Meanwhile, imports of goods from EU countries, excluding precious metals, fell by a staggering £14 … Continue reading Plunge in trade between the UK and the EU

A route map for delivering a fairer Scotland

From SNP Media: THE SNP has today published the findings of its Social Justice and Fairness Commission, set up by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to present a route map for delivering a fairer Scotland. The findings of the report are based on the central principle that the function of government is to make life better for everyone and ensure no one is left behind. The Commission believes that, with independence, Scotland can build on the foundations that have been laid under devolution by the Scottish Government. The report offers a conversation starter to find consensus about the kind of Scotland … Continue reading A route map for delivering a fairer Scotland
