Productivity in the Crowdfunder era, almost doubled and readership up 20% but:
At Talking-up Scotland, we’re producing more and better, I’d say. Our repeated and deepening investigations into the siting of the Queen Elisabeth University Hospital have attracted insider information and led to reports way beyond what the MSM produce. Seven reports every day, read by more than 1 000 individuals each day and yet only 86 donors so far.
Our crowd-funding efforts to sustain this are paradoxically going the other way.

‘What can we do?’ – I wish I knew. I do hope the many ‘visitors’ offer up some useful ideas!
Just one of the things that I value about TuS is its provision of ‘perspective’. So for what it’s worth, based on stats provided above and recently:
26,625 ‘visitors’ to TuS: £30,000 (crowdfunding target) divided by 26,625 = £1.12 per ‘visitor’.
1,591 TuS signed-up ‘subscribers’: £30,000 divided by 1,591 = £18.85 per annum per subscriber.
845 subscribers that are ‘confirmed’ (i.e. ‘actively receiving emails’): £30,000 divided by 845 = £35.5 per annum per ‘active’ subscriber.
And looking at matters from the ‘other end’:
£3,370 (present scale of crowdfund contributions) divided by 26,625 ‘visitors’ averages out at £0.13 per ‘visitor’.
£3,370 divided by 1,591 TuS subscribers averages out at £2.12 per subscriber.
£3,370 divided by 845 ‘confirmed’ subscribers averages out at £3.99 per ‘confirmed’ subscriber.
Hope my sums are right! This is not my ‘business’ so sincere apologies to John and all users of TuS if this intervention is seen as interfering or inappropriate. I have no skin in the TuS venture (I contribute frequently – I enjoy having the opportunity – but have never met John): my motivation here is only as a supporter of Scotland regaining its independence.
I can fully accept that some users of TuS may have severely limited financial capacity to contribute to the crowdfunder. I do hope TuS remains free at the point of access! However, I truly can’t believe that a blog that is so dedicated to and so effective in pursing the objective of our nation regaining its independent status is not of sufficient value to come very much closer to achieving it crowdfunding target.
And does TuS remain relevant? Is not the TuS mission of seeking to counter the gaslighting of Scotland’s electorate by the pro-Union MSM one that is very much needed – needed more not less!
