Women’s health and ‘trusted journalism’ – Herald off to a predictable and laughable start

Professor John Robertson OBA

In the Herald today with the above footer:

Women in Scotland fear they are still being left behind when it comes to medical services despite the Scottish Government’s Women’s Health Plan. The Women’s Health Plan ran from 2021 to 2024 and had promised improvements to menopause services and better care for endometriosis, but the results of a new survey show women are still struggling to receive the care they need.

Trusted journalism, eh?

Is the source reliable? Well, it’s by McKeown Medical, a private profit motive-driven business.

Were there no reliable sources? Clearly not.

Oh, well, sample size? Not mentioned.

Sampling method? Eh wot mate?

So, useless then?

Anyone want to trust them?

Just a one-off failure for the Herald?

Nope.

See:

There’s more, much more but we’re all tired now, I think.

  1. Looking for ”trusted journalism” ? Then you will have a fruitless search in the Scottish MSM . Best look in The Beano !

  2. Women are more likely to go to the Doctor than men. It is mainly men who do not go for urgent treatment. Often women get them to go.

Prescriptions, social care, bus passes, baby boxes, school meals, child payments, extended nursery care, better opportunity for women to get into work. Student support. £18Billion + social care due to increase. Contraceptives. Women are not falling so behind they have support. They get medical care and on average live 5 years longer. Worldwide. It is only countries in Africa where women still on average, have 6 children. Quite a handful to keep. No proper healthcare because of lack of funding.

Labour not supporting Waspi women. Now going after the vulnerable who need support. Additional welfare support. 1 in 20 people have additional needs and need extra support. They suffer from anxiety and worry. Often they cannot work in a conventional norm. The UK Gov are going after them. An absolute disgrace. Spending £13Billion more on Defence (attack). Trident and redundant weaponry a total waste of monies. The UK Gov would rather spend more killing people than saving them. The UK Gov funding nuclear decommissioning £13Billion a year. Increasing all the time.

Get Trident out of Scotland. Dumped in Scotland without authority. MacMillan and Kennedy. The total hypocrites. Trump could pull the plug and stop financing it. Do the world a favour and stop nuclear and war.

  3. As one comment to the article summarised it best, ‘free’ advertising of the opinions of a medical practice by the Herald, the ‘new survey’ being more about feelings than anything else. After years of forced austerity by London, and precious little real ‘change’ on the way, folks aren’t exactly upbeat about the NHS..

To be fair the opinions are honestly given, and they do recognise the financial difficulties faced by SG in implementing improvement – I’d prefer the balanced opinions of these guys to anything Dr Kennedy has to say….
