Surge in A&E improvement across all waiting times maintained

Summers: What?

From Public Health Scotland today:

  • 70.3% of ED attendances were seen and resulted in a subsequent admission, transfer or discharge within 4 hours, up from 70.1% in the previous week.
  • 1,996 patients spent more than 8 hours in an Emergency Department, down from 2 331 in the previous week.
  • 851 patients spent more than 12 hours in an Emergency Department, down from 1 031 in the previous week

Attendances were up from 21 517 to 22 430

  1. Ah, but … the media deals in ’round’ figures, when it suits them.

    So, 70.3/70.1 – no improvement.
    1996 – nearly 2000, 2331 – just over 2000 – no improvement
    851 – nearly 1000, 1031 – just over 1000 – no improvement
    21517 – nearly 22000, 22430 – nearly 22000 – no change.

    But, of course, everyone knows these figures are just ‘the tip of an iceberg – thousands of people are suffering at home rather than wait on a trolley in a corridor.

    All this is true because it came from Jackie Baillie’s office.
