From Public Health Scotland today:
- 70.3% of ED attendances were seen and resulted in a subsequent admission, transfer or discharge within 4 hours, up from 70.1% in the previous week.
- 1,996 patients spent more than 8 hours in an Emergency Department, down from 2 331 in the previous week.
- 851 patients spent more than 12 hours in an Emergency Department, down from 1 031 in the previous week
Attendances were up from 21 517 to 22 430
Ah, but … the media deals in ’round’ figures, when it suits them.
So, 70.3/70.1 – no improvement.
1996 – nearly 2000, 2331 – just over 2000 – no improvement
851 – nearly 1000, 1031 – just over 1000 – no improvement
21517 – nearly 22000, 22430 – nearly 22000 – no change.
But, of course, everyone knows these figures are just ‘the tip of an iceberg – thousands of people are suffering at home rather than wait on a trolley in a corridor.
All this is true because it came from Jackie Baillie’s office.
