When things are high in Scotland, they are headlined as the highest in the UK (Covid).
When they are no longer the highest, they just ‘fall’.
It’s now 1 in 20 in England, 1 in 19 in Wales and Scotland and 1 in 16 in Northern Ireland.
Last week there were 1 in 15 or around 340 900 cases in Scotland. This week it’s around 280 000, 60 000 fewer!
This from Good Morning Scotland in another dimension.
My daughter, who has lived in London for several years, has serious doubts about the data for England. Compliance with the guidelines since the beginning of the pandemic has always been much less than in Scotland and during the ill-advised Sunak-inspired ‘eat out to help out’, physical distancing, etc was widely ignored and in subsequent lockdowns compliance with advice fell. The appalling behaviour of Downing St shocked millions and resulted in a substantial loss of public trust in advice from even public health officers.
Because so many people are on low wages, they cannot afford not to go to work even if unwell. London and England has a younger population than Scotland and is much more multi-ethnic. These are the groups which, Sunak and Zahavi, et al’s wealth notwithstanding are the lowest paid, the least unionised, living in rented accommodation and have to go to work.
So what the scale of the infection in England was and is might never be known and, you can be sure the media will not pursue this matter.

Treat English Health statistics like the Westminster GERS stats and you will not be too far off the mark .

The only highs in scotland which go unreported on GMS are those in praise of SG or Michael Gove’s clubbing in Aberdein…
