There were 5 858 new cases of Covid in the last 24 hours, down from 6 835 in the previous day.
In an effort to control the recent surge after schools returned and full capacity was allowed a major football events, Scotland continues to vaccinate more than the other part of the UK, as it has done since August 14th.
There were 8 deaths in the last 24 hours but the rate continues to fall significantly below that in England and Northern Ireland, if slightly above that in Wales.

Thanks Prof. I think without the vaccine in Scotland it would be terrible, or rather much worse. Being at the mercy of the BritNat EngGov, who control borders etc, Scotland is still in danger of further lockdowns.

Watching the daily picture of infection spread around Scotland,it is clear that only lockdowns can contain the virus.
Vaccinations are hopefully preventing serious illness but doing nothing to stop the spread.
Let’s hope the vaccine efficacy doesn’t reduce too quickly and that new variants don’t appear in the near future.

Among the ”causes ” of this surge could be the influx of many many tourists from south of the border , where the Schools are on holiday !
And they have been indoctrinated with the ”UK” approach to Covid precautions – which amount to keeping your fingers crossed at all times when awake !
