BBC Scotland have nothing on this story. They’re busy with stories of how crap our paper-based vaccine certificates are, according to one or two self-centred tourists who want to be free to do whatever they like in posh Italian restaurants.
And now, they’re drooling over news that four health boards have paused non-emergency ops.
So, this is not at all up their dark end of the street but Sky News have covered it:
People pinged by the NHS app in England and Wales are up to four times more likely to have coronavirus than someone who isn’t alerted, a survey suggests.
Those told to isolate had a 3.7 to 4.0 relative risk of testing positive, according to a survey of more than 750,000 contributors to the Zoe COVID symptom study.
In Scotland, it was even higher, and people pinged by the country’s app were 10 times more likely to have the virus.
The Protest Scotland app was also found to be more accurate at alerting positive-testing people than its Welsh and English equivalents.

Talking-up Scotland 
I think the ‘pingdemic’ was a complete fabrication by Westminster and the right-wing press to create support for the mendacious Johnson’s ‘Freedom Day’.
Essentially, they wanted workers back at work to start producing even more profits for the rapacious business owners. Those who were being urged to ignore pings and return to work are substantially lower paid workers on pretty shaky contracts who have been working continuously throughout the pandemic.
Because of the lack of support for people isolating – such as paying wages and ensuring food and other deliveries (as was done in , for example, New York City) – many have had little option but to continue working, thus increasing the likelihood of them being vectors of infection.

For sure, but it also served as diversion to the escalating freight crisis by implying driver and forklift driver shortage was due to some kind of software glitch rather than high rate of infections and EU workers having quit the UK…

I think you are right. Our local supermarkets’ shelves do not have the range of produce they had at the end of June, which was when the adjustment period for EU personnel to leave. So, it was an attempt to mask this shortage of drivers and vehicles.
