Headlining in the Herald today:
A LEADING MP has called for Scotland to stick with the union and not abandon the north of England with Boris Johnson. Tim Farron made the plea after 17 polls in a row showed majority support for Scottish independence, with the SNP on track for a major victory at the Holyrood elections next year.
We’ll leave the ‘leading MP’ thing for now but, this is the Tim Farron whose Christian beliefs apparently made gay sex and abortion problematic though ‘not a sin‘.

We must hsve something he wants….usual story.

Aside from the disgraceful hypocrisy of this eejit, who are the ‘northerners’!
At one time in Geordie land there was an affinity with Scotland, but in 2014 the brainwashing by the BritNat media worked, and from my friends and family, the ‘northerners’, there was much contempt, ridicule and even jealousy towards Scotland, for wanting to make things better for their country.
The ‘northerners’ will have to save themselves, and Scotland staying shackled to the ‘northerners’ undemocratic, unequal, destructive backward so called union, certainly won’t help them!
Whatever next will the BritNats try!

I take it he refers to the ‘Northerners’ who live to the South of us in Scotland. This, coming from a South East England pespective is completely irrelevant to us.

Just to add, the ‘northerners’ were quite happy to leave the EU, dragging Scotland out, and ‘abandoning’ Scotland to the mercy of er, Boris Johnson! No thanks.

Aye A.H, apparently only Newcastle voted to remain, by a very narrow margin.

Yes true and I have never heard the end of it…I think they want to be independent…it was Newcastle city not surrounding area, not sure of population size. I think Tyne and Wear population is about two million, maybe more.

Mr Farron refers to “northerners”. That is the north of HIS country of England.
Scotland has its own concerns, one of which is long periods of being governed by Tories we don’t elect.
Mr Johnson was elected into office by the north as well as the south of England. If Mr Farron has concerns regarding Tory governments, he should take it up with his own countrymen (and women), not with Scotland.

Absolutely, my friends were quite horrified when Blyth, their area, voted Tory last December, nowt as daft as some folk, but having said that, they say there are tone of new expensive private housing estates being built and people from down south buying them up cheap in comparison to London and south of England…so changing demographics?

Tons not tone! Blyth used to be very working class, industrial area. I guess it’s in Northumberland county, low population, huge region, very rural, perfect for moving people into the area, with money to spare too,

England 19.1
Wales 19.3
Scottish primary schools fell to their lowest since 2012 down to 23.1

Are you into geology? Did you know that Scotland used to be a very separate landmass divided by the Lapetus ocean many eons ago…the Cheviots were made by the two landmasses of Scotland and England (boo hoo) crashing together, literally the border was where the two countries were at one time separated and you’d have needed a big boat indeed to cross the Lapetus ocean to get to England. If I can find the animation of it I will post it.

Aware of a little geology
It was a Scotsman that more or less created the new science whilst investigating rocks up Arthurs Seat
Lewisan Gneiss is the oldest rock on the Planet
England is slowly sinking into the Sea
Whilst Scotland is slowly rising
And by far in many more ways than that
When we take to the lifeboats of the stricken SS.Britania then indeed economically and politically England will sink by jove

Using the term Northerners betrays their argument as anglo-centric and irrelevant to Scotland.

Farron along with every MP in Westminster lost any claim to credibility from 2014 onward by allowing WM to continue ‘business as usual’…
His “northerners” are ultimately responsible for who has been in power for the last three general elections since including the current mafia in office, for Brexit, for every despicable act perpetrated in the name of the UK… Who voted for these charlatans in Scotland ? Damned few and even they are now embarrassed.
Johnson is but a short term symptom of a much deeper sickness in England’s politics, a love affair with Tories where honour and honesty mean absolutely nothing.
Appealing for sympathy ? We’ll send a wreath.

“… stick with the union and not abandon the north of England with Boris Johnson”.
Why is it always Scotland and its people that are called upon to forego agency and limit our future for the good of the Union?
A majority of voters in ‘the North’ voted for BREXIT. It was many of these same voters, including many who had voted previously for the Labour Party – that’s the party that preaches to us in Scotland about ‘solidarity’ and ‘internationalism’ – who in 2019 in many northern constituencies voted for the Tory Party. And not just a Tory Party but one led by Johnson and his arch Brexiteers/British Nationalists.
These northern voters would have known that a ‘hard’ Brexit would result if the Tories won the GE – the opposite of what a majority of Scotland’s people would want.
But did voting for this predictable Brexit outcome – and its implicit lack of solidarity with a majority of people in Scotland – ever cross the minds of voters in the north of England? Of course not! Mr Farron needs to explain why in this Union it is always Scotland and its people that have to forego agency and limit their future – and to do so because of something that people in ‘the North’ actually wanted.

Lastly, it’s all part of divide and rule, the Scots wanting more, Geordies and Mackams losing out, huge unemployment in NE England already. Some level of begrudging towards Scotland.
A ready army for the BritNat EngGov. Scary.

None in North England are blaming Scots for their condition, that is firmly planted in #10.
Trouble is brewing all right, but their focus is firmly to the south, and a gang of Etonians “born to rule” yet ill-equipped to do so…
I had a faint idea a lockdown would arise as Brexit approached (saving Johnson the international embarrassment of imposing martial law) with an army and police force indisposed….
