As hospital-onset cases of Covid climbed, Lisa Summers was quick to tweet the bad news about our hospitals, rounding 189 up to 200, gleefully, and forgetting to mention that it was only 2% of all cases and well under the rate in England of between 18% and 25%!
Regardless, it then became a big story across BBC Scotland:

Today, we see the numbers fall again:

Where’s the report? The public have a right to know that it’s even safer to have to go into hospital, in Scotland that is.

You are right to apply the adverb “gleefully” toy our comment on Ms Summers’ tweet.
She has selected a single datum and arbitrarily exaggerated it by more than 10% and then presented it without context indicating that readers should infer, from this and from her previous pigeon-shit comments that NHS Scotland is really bad.
One questions the mentality of such ‘journalists’ who seem overjoyed to find information that they can use to ‘justify’ their propagandist line against the Scottish Government and Scottish public bodies. One has to wonder if they give a monkey’s about the people behind these data, unless they can use them, as ‘vox pops’ to illustrate their general thesis, such as this morning on GMS when there was an interview with a man who is terminally ill who had found out that people like him who have been shielding (because of impaired immune systems) are not in the first group to be vaccinated.

My wife is in the Golden Jubilee having just had her second knee replacement. She couldn’t be having better care and as far as we can tell she hasn’t caught the virus yet. I know this is only one case and so may not be entirely representative of the wider population but no doubt one satisfied customer is one too many for BBC Scotland.

It is well known that Scots have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and is typically illustrated by Stu Campbell. Much to my dismay he used his website Wings OS to attack Sturgeon’s popularity and rising support for Indy by attributing it largely to her handling of the Covid which is fair enough but of course this has been seized upon by Unionists and their Media chums who see an ideal opportunity to level the score by exposing any weakness. I really despair at times.
