  1. Well done prof! Can’t help but wonder if Fiona Stalker got a tip off from someone with an axe to grind about this issue before her tweet. On BBC’s GMS on Radio Scotland this morning, Laura Maciver interviewed the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Jeane Freeman, about the Public Enquiry into the QEUH, (about 2 hours 6 minutes in). At the end of the piece LM pressed JF to say if those “patients who’d been in chronic pain who’d been forced to travel to England for pain relief” would be reimbursed their travel expenses. JF pointed out that normally that would be discussed with the relevant health board BEFORE any travel had taken place.

  3. Good work John, hope they do response appropriately. They really need to be held to account and answer some serious questions. It’s Scotland who should be asking the questions for sure, not having to repeatedly answer the same questions from the story tellers in the ‘media’, day in day out.

  4. BBC Scotland operate entirely different in Scotland and England.
There is a persistent attempt by BBC Scotland to involve the Scottish government in any and every issue, no matter how trivial—-while in England the Health Minister seldom gets questioned, even when health scandals involve thousands of patients.
The reason for this? Scotland is both a political and broadcasting colony.

  5. I was referred to chronic pain buy onco surgeon earlier this yr & I got a letter within weeks to call them as they had appointment for me. Very fast response I felt…Then we went into lock down. Another of my surgeons was trying to retire for 3 yrs & the NHS bean counters were saying they could not find a replacement. She was down to working a few days per week. She told me it was not that they couldn’t find replacement..they did not want to pay someone else her salary! She said it is all about saving money. There are loads of jobs not being filled because the bean counters will not fill them in order to save money..to make themselves look good! They try to get the job done by lower level qualified staff- but not give them any more money for it! This is not the SGs doing but NHS management!
