‘Mum’s’ deep Conservative Party insider history hidden by Good Morning Scotland to attack Swinney

On Good Morning Scotland, this morning (1 hour in) Alison Payne is introduced as ‘Allison Payne works for the think tank Reform Scotland…Alison also has children‘ and is asked then ‘As a parent what are your reactions to the plans for the next year?‘ She launches into this

I’m flabbergasted. In Edinburgh we’re looking at one day per week in the current proposal…works for nobody, it doesn’t work for pupils, it doesn’t work for parents and I don’t see how it works for schools.

That last bit makes me think, ‘spin doctor, speech writer?’

Alison is currently ‘Research Director‘ with Reform Scotland and her cv is clear there:

Alison graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Economics and Politics in 2001. She began her career within the Scottish Conservative MSPs’ Research Unit, going on to spend four years as Head of Research. She later went on to become Political Adviser to Annabel Goldie MSP, Leader of the Scottish Conservative Group of MSPs. This role included acting as adviser to the Scottish Conservative Policy Advisory Group which was independent of the party. Before joining Reform Scotland, Alison  was a senior account manager with PPS, which provides lobbying, communications and consultation advice to the property and development industry.  She also spent 10 years as a Girl Guide leader, prior to the birth of her second child in 2010.

This is by no means just a ‘mum.’ Payne is a deep insider in the Conservative Party and an accountant as opposed to an educationist. To not mention any of her background is deeply dishonest of GMS.

Footnote: How do you become a Research Director with no evidence of research training – PhD, MRes, even an honours degree with a dissertation? Girl Guide connections?

  3. Now a common practise of the BBC to present people like this as ‘ordinary concerned’ members of the Public. Utterly disgraceful but hardly surprising given their history of manipulating studio audiences.

⁩ – the think tank behind new pressure to introduce tuition fees in Scotland so did some digging
Founded as a successor to right-wing Policy Institute in 2008 – it’s original aims involved promoting ‘principles of free enterprise, limited government and individual liberty.’
Go look see what else he found.

I dug too and under under About & Trustees I found

  7. Crystal ball Payne, looking at glass completely empty.

It really wouldn’t work very well if the SNP government had no proposals and were acting the same as her Tory party in going down the very dangerous herd immunity path. Did she say what her ‘proposal’ would be? It would be exactly the same as her boss’s strategy, herd immunity.

In fact, if, god forbid her party were at the helm in Scotland, they would have sent kids back to school before now. Her boss Johnson had to back down on that one because parents, teachers and scientists were saying, don’t be so freaking stupid, kids are havens for viruses you oik!

I am ‘flabbergasted’ at the narrow mindedness of these people. I bet though she didn’t say anything about Fettes or Heriots etc, what is the ‘proposal’ on that score I wonder? They will not send their kids back until they know it’s safe to do so, and they can afford not to.

This is as we all know, about money, because parents out of work have to somehow survive financially, and her Tory government are in no mood to help them out financially, it must be tearing them apart that they have been forced to help some, though as few as possible.

‘Good morning Scotland’, a disgraceful propaganda tool of the Britnat state.

  8. Thank you for your excellent work. Did you see the C4 piece on Sunday about care homes? The clips from the FM’s briefing were edited to make it look as though Jason Leitch disagrees with her. It was a shocker

  9. The BBC are well known for wheeling out so called “think tank” representatives. Most of them tend to be what i consider to be right wing / Tory mouthpieces.

  10. Good Morning Scotland should be ashamed. Never a balanced or positive comment about the Scottish Government. Shame on them for encouraging Tory negative comment with never a balance.
