Calls for Shadowy Scottish Secretary to resign after public health team who dealt with Nike Conference infections are shown to have prevented further outbreaks

From the CMO today:

Beyond the eight cases already known to be associated with this outbreak, there are three other cases with a genotype that might be linked to this lineage. Of these three cases, two of them are closely associated with samples that came from other cases identified in other countries and have been discounted as having been directly linked to the conference. The third show similarities to those associated with the conference but not direct link to the conference has been established.

After this explanation, the CMO concluded

This suggests that the actions taken by the IMT to manage this outbreak were successful in curtailing spread and have led to the eradication of this particular viral lineage with no evidence of any wider outbreak associated with it in Scotland since that time.

So, the kilt-fitter feeling unwell, had something else and Ian Murray MP, Shadow Scottish Secretary, having ranted daily about a cover-up, in the Scottish media, needs to consider his position.

  1. Does anyone think he will ‘consider his position’?

The next ‘story’ is the alleged 200 deaths ’caused in hospital’.

    1. And, sure enough, Reporting Scotland gave this ‘big licks’ tonight. It was the opening item, with Glenn Campbell framing it as the SG being to blame. There was the usual bit from the Tories at Holyrood, then Labour and finally Wullie Rennie, before Jeanne Freeman was given a brief clip. Then there was a piece by another reporter – describing Jeanne Freeman as ‘under pressure’ – referring to the Nike conference, ‘Which BBC Scotland exposed’- before reporting at the end that the Nike story had been fully examined and had been dealt with competently. However, it had been preceded by a lot of critical innuendo. It was the old 2014 of 3 against one in a ‘framed’ story.

  2. Fret not judgement day awaits for Lord Haw Haw (Murray)
And that shall be on the votes as cast for Holyrood
And there shall be a gap between his career path toes and the sodden ground
Off Westminster upon which he stands as the noose tightens around his neck
His cronies down there just as all colonial masters will quickly hang him to dry
It is they that will finally pull the trap door
    Leaver
He should have realised his valiant charge upon Scots Indy was suicidal and without any prospect whatsoever to posthumously be awarded a Victoria Cross in the form of a Ermine robe
    As Captain Mannering would say
    You Stupid Boy

  3. Now that is very good news. I believe there is a similar exercise analysing the links between Hospital and care home deaths which is due before the end of this month.

  4. He must go , he must , a man of his magnitude and position cannot throw about accusations willy nilly, did he do the proper groundwork required
of such accusations, did he take clinical advice , was he assured his accusations were sound , if not he has to go , I will expect nothing less , nothing ! .

  5. Over how many days did his Nike story run? How many minutes of broadcast time, how many column inches, did it receive? How many times did it get him on a TV programme? How many Labour supporters and other Unionists in Scotland – the latter being prospective Labour voters when it comes to defeating the SNP – had their confirmatory bias fed?

I suspect Mr Murray is rather pleased with himself!
