Noting the dread prof’s appearance on Question Time, ‘Rosie Andrew’ sent me this from a Wings over Scotland source:

https://wingsoverscotland.com/the-green-ink-gang/
This letter-writing group organised by Scotland in Union is essentially a covert propaganda unit, clearly aware of the need to keep their existence secret.
They are writing to journalists, hoping to influence them and readers, pretending to be simply members of the public, honest citizens, if you like.
I don’t know about the legality of such practice but it’s clearly anti-democratic.
Prof Pennington was the founder of Academics Together in the run-up to the the 2014 referendum, is a founding member of the currently active Scotland Matters and judging by the mailing list above, a member of Scotland in Union.

Would anyone think of putting in their questions to QT? I can think of a few.
The relative performance of health services. Nine reasons.
The role of big companies in care homes and covid infections
Nike timelines and track and trace.

New line of attack, but a pretty weak one following FOI (Lisa Summers?):
Operation Iris
https://archive.is/0B8G1
Usual unquantifiables like:
“frontline staff “UNEASE” over personal protective equipment“
and
“It FEELS like a lost opportunity”, says Professor Devi Sridhar,
Unsure if bad grammar or trying to blame Scottish Government for Westminster not publishing Op Cygnus Report:
“ A report detailing the findings of an exercise simulating pandemic influenza called “Exercise Cygnus”, which was run in England in October 2016, was also not published.”

Thanks
Headline could’ve been far worse?
Sridhar taking about the UK-level SAGE
I might turn the story around

And has the BBC put in an FoI request for the Cygnus report as they did for the report on the Scottish exercise? If not why not?

Then quietly withdraw

With a bit of luck, Pennington would be recruited ( for his expertise in virology, epidemiology, politics, history, economics and hielan’ dancing, for all I know) by the “England” end of the pandemic, and would go off to spend his twilight years “dann saff”, where his long face might break into a smile.

Here is a blatant example of BBC bias and loading of a item
Go to BBC NEWS online
Click on UK
Then on Scotland
Scroll down to article with title Coronavirus :Outbreak exercise showed ” clear gap ”
In readiness
But it states that excercise IRIS was conducted by SHNS to simulate a outbreak of MERS
And the public can post comments on the article
So to demonstrate just how seriously unbalanced and loaded this article is you have to read it all and see how the whole thing is turned to covid -19 and Scotlands handling of the report in a most inadequate manner
Remeber Exercise Iris was on a Mers outbreak NOT COVID
So using data upto 5.6 2020 for the whole world lets compare Mers with Covid and one can instantly assess
Just how ridiculous BBC are
So here we go
Total no.of cases Mers 23430
Total no.of deaths Mers 866
Total no.of cases Covid-19 is 6,727,527
Total no.of deaths covid-19 is 393 ,648
I leave readers to make up their own mind as to the function of the BBC

MERS was caused by a coronavirus. While there are differences between that coronavirus and the one causing Covid-19 basing the exercise on a coronavirus-based pandemic was pretty far thinking of the scientists and health groups in Scotland. The Gov in Westminster and their Science/health advisers were basing their planning on a future pandemic being flu based.

Yes i know both are coronaviruses
But although Covid -19 not as deadly than
Mers
But is far more infectious than Mers
So the point i was attempting to make was in the vast nos of cases in comparison of covid to that of Mers
No way could any one planning for Mers possibly know what was reqd.to deal with the rampant highly infectious Covid- 19
Thereby no doubt whatsoever that BBC
Deliberately and in full knowledge twisted article to create a false picture and. BAAAAD SNP
