Increase in support for second independence referendum

From Ipsos MORI, yesterday, based on a poll 1 000 16+ respondents, 66% of Scots want another independence referendum within 5 years.

This compares with the Panelbase poll in March which had 49% saying there should not be another referendum in the ‘next few years.’

  1. Scotland needed independence yesterday, to survive as a country with a functioning government working for the people not the other way around.

There was poll no question, ‘should Scotland hold a referendum as soon as (humanely) possible’.?

Post Brexit, a hard no deal, damaging, destructive beyond words Brexit, with Scotland forced out of the EU by their neighbour, it could well be a free for all. Scotland will be destroyed, either economically, politically, or both, by a neghbouring country. A playground for rich English people, a dystopian nightmare for the poor.

Who gets to vote when, if we do get another shot at independence. I seem to remember there was a review of status in terms of voting, post 2014? If anyone knows anything about that it would be interesting.

We certainly need 16/17 year olds to vote and EU nationals, though would that be possible when we are dragged out of the EU? How does that work?

Scotland is in great peril now, with a bullying neighbour that can actually dismantle Holyrood, a neighbour that holds most of the cards on so many crucial matters, and that has been shown these past weeks and days to be an incompetent, imbecilic, dangerous cabal, not a government, but a bunch of far right wing nutjobs whose claims of self entitlement knows no bounds.

The present situation is not conducive to Scotland thriving, and very possibly to even surviving as a functioning country.
The Tories don’t do democracy they never really have, Scotland needs to throw off the shackles very soon, two years might clinch it, five years, no, Scotland will be finished by then at this rate.

We have to be realistic, grasp the thistle by the thorns, and hold a referndum as soon as the present terrible crisis is considered to be behind us in Scotland, and Scotland needs to be careful about who gets to vote. No second home owners, no students not permanently resident here, ( they vote according to how they would vote in England, ie, not SNP and certainly not for independence) no one who has not been resident in Scotland for at least 6-12 months. Does that seem unreasonable?

What is happening in the UK right now is not just unreasonable, it’s totally abhorrent. Let’s get away while we can Scotland, it’s asap or never imo.

    1. Me, Me, Me, Me! Pick me, Miss (Jumping up and down).

Just as the EU launch an eye watering economic revitalisation package, the Yookey are going to be out in the cold, with its No Deal nonsense, cosying up to Trumpland.

Scotland needs to be where sensible governments make agreements for the interests of their people, not where looney-tunes ideas are in vogue in pursuit of a past that is gone (Empire2 anyone?) and cannot be revised.
