Credit to NHS, Scotland’s coronavirus recovery rate is TWICE global average

According to GlobalData Epidemiologist Bahram Hassanpourfard, the global recovery rate is 32%. Hassanpourfard drew attention to the ‘UK’ rate of only 0.46% but I suspect that is based on inadequate data coming from the ONS.

As far as I can see, the ONS is not recording recovery rates at all. Why?

The Scottish recovery rate is known with 9 075 recovering from 13 486 cases and 1 857 deaths giving a rate of 67.3%.

Given that Scotland’s population has the lowest life expectancy in the UK and one of the lowest in Europe, it seems reasonable to give NHS Scotland credit for this.

  1. The credit for this remarkable achievment
Is not only down to all NHS staff but also
To the people of Scotland whose social concerns for their fellow humans and their own people
Expressed in main through the ballot box by ensuring that a political party was put in charge that reflected their desires
And confirmed at each election by quite simply voting for more of the same please
One can only but wonder what heights our people can and will achieve once fully Independent

  3. BBC 1 UK news at c. 22.25 tonight, 11 May, on the most sensitive public heath and increasingly political topic of the time – the responses to Covid-19 across the nations of the UK – the BBC’s Sarah Smith says, in terms, ‘.. you can hear the unspoken words of the First Minister ..’.

When the words are ‘unspoken’ this gives Ms Smith wide scope for interpretation – or more likely, given the BBC’s track record in Scotland, misrepresentation!

    1. So reporting ” unspoken words ” is a valid journalistic function down Pacific Quay way ? Sarah Smith is venturing into the territory of seance and ventriloquism . Straightforward unadorned account of the facts is not enough apparently .

  4. Ms Smith’s notion of hearing unspoken words is on the same level as Johnson’s shining a bright light on an invisible enemy.
Just as you cannot hear something unspoken, you cannot see anything invisible no matter how bright the light. Do these people actually engage the brain before speaking?

  5. We are watching the breakup of the UK in slowmo, while we try to overcome the virus, the ‘UK/English’ Government try to kill more people by servicing the needs of business.
