Really? Nearly 37% of respondents know who Dani Garavelli is?

This has been a healthy reminder of the value of empirical research. I hardly know who Garavelli is, yet more than 100 followers of this blog do! To be fair to her, she must be less obviously negative about Scotland or the Scottish Government, or I’d be commenting on her writing more.

To be fair to me, Tom Gordonstoun and Helen McArdle keep me busy. Here’s what some others had to say:

  1. The reason they do know is because her stuff was touted on Twitter and Craig Murray did a substantial article on his site dismantling her article covering the trial. Also the Times editor touted her on twitter which created a` reaction. So I would say most of those who are aware of her have a negative view of her writing.

  2. It was a site to behold to see so called journalists praising her article.
The second and third paragraph was as far as i got because i know journalism when i see it and this isn’t it.
“The small patch of pavement in front of the city’s High Court, however, is thronged with reporters and photographers, joined by a bunch of cybernats who shout out “on yerself, Alex,” as the former First Minister, former leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), former champion of the campaign for Scottish independence thanks a jury of eight women and five men for acquitting him of 13 charges of sexual assault from nine complainants.

To those who have witnessed him in his pomp, Salmond cuts a diminished figure. The familiar dark overcoat, tartan scarf and saltire-dotted tie are still present and correct, but the triumphalist bluster and Tigger bounce have vanished.”

This is Craig Murray dismantling it.

  3. How about asking your sample how many of them agree with her views and whether her writing presents a balanced analysis ? I suspect not many of your 37% think much of her “journalism”

    1. I don’t think much of her journalism, she sees only what she wants to see , she doesn’t look at the bigger picture ! .
