You are MORE THAN TWICE as likely to spend more than 12 hours waiting in A&E in NHS England than in NHS Scotland
Headlined in the Telegraph yesterday and some time before NHS England will release even their November figures, here’s what the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) reported: RCEM data shows that in the first week of December over 5,000 patients waited for longer than 12 hours in the Emergency Departments of 50 Trusts and Boards across the UK. The sample of trusts and boards from across the UK is the equivalent to a third of the acute bed base in England. https://www.rcem.ac.uk/RCEM/News/News_2019/Latest_RCEM_data_shows_true_scale_of_the_number_of_patients_waiting_longer_than_12_hours_in_A_E.aspx In Scotland, 184 patients waited more than 12 hours in the week ending 24th November. The NHS Scotland … Continue reading You are MORE THAN TWICE as likely to spend more than 12 hours waiting in A&E in NHS England than in NHS Scotland

From Insider today: ‘Business activity in Scotland’s private sector rose for the first time since August, according to a new report. The latest Royal Bank of Scotland Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) recorded an increase in private-sector output in November. Talking-up Scotland pushes for third place from fifth last year as bigger Indybloggers take eye off ball
Using trafficestimate.com the following pro-Indy blogs received these estimated visitor figures: Wings over Scotland 118 600 Wee Ginger Dug 57 300 Common Space 49 000 Talking-up Scotland 48 800 Gerry Hassan 22 900 Scot Goes Pop 15 900 Peter Bell not enough data I’m getting ‘File not found (404)’ for Grouse Beater. I haven’t included Craig Murray at nearly a quarter of a million because I’m putting him in another league and because most of his stuff is UK or globally-oriented. I have included Peter Bell because he once sneered at my puny twitter presence of 3 000 against his … Continue reading Talking-up Scotland pushes for third place from fifth last year as bigger Indybloggers take eye off ball
The Rise and Fall of the Thought Control Scotland and Talking-Up Scotland Empires
Above, in suitably British pink, Talking-Up Scotland’s global penetration. Since the 25th August, when I archived Thought Control Scotland and launched the less Marmitey Talking-Up Scotland, things have shrunk a bit (the blog!). Some readers thought the name change might actually boost the audience because they had often hesitated to share posts, fearing they would be thought paranoid. Here’s the state of play under the rule of thought control in the first half of 2019: Ominous signs of collapse despite talking-up? And in 2018: And in 2017 we still had Greenland: Of course it may not have been anything to … Continue reading The Rise and Fall of the Thought Control Scotland and Talking-Up Scotland Empires

Alex Cole-Hamilton feeds Herald reporter with GP rubbish and she regurgitates it
I got this back-to-front having spotted McCardle’s fibs in the Herald and reported on it here, before I discovered that Alex Cole-Hamilton had asked a parliamentary question about it, a few days beforehand, to feed her the idea: Alex Cole-Hamilton (Edinburgh Western) (Scottish Liberal Democrats): To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking in response is to reports that doctors are retiring before reaching the state pension age because of overwork. Click to access WA20191203.pdf So, here they are again; the facts: GPs retiring early: Only 167 out of 8 000 did in 2017-2018 and that was down … Continue reading Alex Cole-Hamilton feeds Herald reporter with GP rubbish and she regurgitates it
Scottish high-rises have been protected against ‘large scale fire’ since 2005 and new regulations will make all buildings safer
In the Guardian on Tuesday: Two and a half years since Grenfell, it is a silent scandal how little has changed. The images of the cladding crackling and dripping from the Bolton student block is a shameful reminder that thousands of homes are still not safe. There have been eight significant residential fires since Grenfell. And today tens of thousands of people are still living in buildings wrapped in dangerous combustible materials. It’s on our homes, our hospitals, our care homes and our schools. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/dec/03/fires-grenfell-towers-combustible-cladding In Scotland: In a parliamentary question at Holyrood on Monday, David Stewart (Highlands and Islands) (Scottish Labour) asked … Continue reading Scottish high-rises have been protected against ‘large scale fire’ since 2005 and new regulations will make all buildings safer
Is Norovirus making this blog swell?
We’ve been having a wee surge at factcheckSCOTLAND/TalkingUpScotland2 since last Friday, and as the election looms, but the audience for a smug little report today on Norovirus surging everywhere but in Scotland is swelling ominously toward 3 000 readers all by itself and none of us here get why.
