

In previous reports on the inquiry hearing expert witnesses, we’ve revealed that of 7 recent new large city hospitals across the UK, including in Manchester, only Glasgow City Council, in 2008, opted to build right next to a large raw sewage plant.
In the years that followed after the SNP took power in 2017, Anas Sarwar groomed the traumatised parents of cancer victims, where autopsies had revealed the presence of a fungus found in pigeon droppings, and blamed the SNP for a failure to build-in proper protections in the hospital systems.
We, at Taking-up Scotland, did not know until recently, due to media shielding, of the proximity of a large open-air sewage plant within metres of the hospital and which was the obvious prior source of all the problems that critics had simply laid against the SNP in government at local and national level.
Critics, of course, have insisted the current authorities have a responsibility to upgrade the hospital systems, air and water, to cope with presence of the sewage works which Labour had ignored.
It’s not possible. That’s why hospitals are not built close to sewage works or, for that matter, factories emitting toxins. In my locality, locals complain about access to two modern hospitals but they are where they are for the same reasons the QEUH should not be where it is.
It is extremely difficult, costly, and unreliable in practice to fully isolate a large hospital’s air and water systems from nearby sewage/wastewater treatment works (WWTPs), especially for vulnerable patients. This practical challenge is the major reason such proximity is generally avoided in developed countries.’ Sources at end of this report.
Back to the powerfully simple evidence that hospitals are perhaps never built near sewage works, we know the QEUH is unique in the UK.
Has any city in a developed nation other than Glasgow in Scotland build a large hospital close to a raw sewage treatment plant?

Still not one media report from anywhere on the planet.
What reputation now does the Labour Glasgow council of 2008 back to forever, and its overseers at Holyrood, Labour from 1997 to 2007, have? The most stupid, the most callous, the most corrupt, ever?
