The sickening front pages on Nicola Sturgeon only days after the murder of Anne Widdicombe

Just three front pages today not including the Herald and the Scotsman saying the same thing less directly. Corporate ‘journalism’ has been long dead, writing now zombie-like.

Do they feel any responsibility not to inflame, to influence some of disturbed mind, like the recent murderers of MPs? Do they feel anything other than their wallets?

Only a month ago, they were working to distort the reality, flaws and all, of what Nicola Sturgeon has done for Scotland.

In the Herald 21 June 2026, this either unaware or dishonest claim, above.

Journalism students know that much of what journalist do, rather than faithfully sharing any kind of pre-existing shared reality, is collectively, sheepishly, construct an alternative reality to suit the agenda of those who fund them and upon whom they depend for their existence – paying their mortgage, their car loan, feeding their families and so on.

Regulars here will be well aware of how selective and edited ‘herd’ coverage of, for example, NHS performance, of youth violence, of drug death trends, of housing shortages, of even child poverty has made sure that many of those in Scotland benefiting from objectively better NHS performance, lower crime, more affordable housing and even those whose grandchildren have been helped out of poverty, can be duped into thinking they live in a wider crisis, as we saw in July 2024 and as we saw last week in Aberdeen South, to vote against their own interests.

Here’s how they have hidden the legacy justified by facts. Full text at: https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/?s=Sturgeon

  1. it is all right to publish anything about Nicola or any SNP MP or MSP. Just don’t do it to an English MP..

What I fail to understand is why the SNP do or say nothing about it. Will it take a tragedy before they speak up? By then, of course, it will be too late. Locking the stable door after the horse has bolted is not a good look.

  2. All I will say has that Tory Davis got the balls to stand up in public an repeat all he said in Parliament where he is privileged to say anything without being challenged.

I saw these headlines and thought out there someone might just be crazy enough to try and kill Ms Sturgeon it has happened before to other people.

  3. The Westminster Establishment, and their media lackeys, are determined to destroy Nicola Sturgeon’s reputation. Using Parliamentary privilege to make defamatory accusations is despicable. But they already destroyed Alex Salmond and if necessary will do the same to John Swinney.

I hope the majority of Scots voters see through this. The huge drop in BBC viewers suggests they do.
