Scotland remains a progressive outlier with only half the level of concern about immigration and no chance of Reform UK winning even one constituency – Libby Brookes must improve

YouGov, no friend of the SNP sees no sign of Reform UK coming first anywhere.

Reform UK in Westminster polls – ahead consistently with up to a third of the voters.

Reform UK in Scotland – well behind consistently, often third and with less than a fifth of the voters.

In the Guardian today, the consistently confused or just too lazy to do research, Libby Brooks, has:

How Reform is exposing the reality of Scotland’s views on immigration and identity – Once a progressive outlier, Scotland is facing a political reckoning as Reform benefits from growing social division. But Reform is expected to make gains beyond Tory strongholds here and in the south of Scotland, with support swelling in the post-industrial villages and towns of the central belt and in pockets around Glasgow. For observers elsewhere in the UK used to regarding Scotland as a progressive outlier – and for those Scots who believe their values are intrinsically to the left of England – it is a stark moment.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/apr/19/how-reform-is-exposing-the-reality-of-scotlands-views-on-immigration-and-identity

So, as we see in poll after poll, above, broadly speaking Scotland is clearly still a progressive outlier in the UK with Reform UK far weaker here despite the stupid MSM enabling of Farage.

When we look at the regional subset in the above polls, where available, there are no pockets of strong Reform support anywhere. Has she just spoken to some Labour activist from North Lanarkshire?

How important is immigration to Scots? Despite UK media carpet bombing of the issue, according the more reliable Ipsos in March 2026 (the only recent one with this breakdown):

Healthcare 54%, Cost of Living 41%, Energy 27%, Independence 25%, Economy 25%, Crime 25%, Social care and Immigration 21%.

https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2026-04/Ipsos%20Scottish%20Political%20Monitor_April%2026_Data%20Tables_V1_EMBARGOED%20UNTIL%2012%20NOON%2008.04.26.pdf

So 7th with only 21%, one in 5.

Whereas, from Opinium in April 2026 for the UK (the only recent one with this):

Health 50%, Immigration 44%, Economy 44%, Energy 25% etc.

https://www.opinium.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/VI-2026-04-15-Opinium-Observer-Web-Tables-1552.xlsx

So, second with 44%, more than 2 in 5.

To conclude, Scotland remains a progressive outlier with only half the level of concern about immigration and no chance of Reform UK winning a constituency.

  1. Paul Hutcheon posted this today:

“NEW: The pro-UK parties could win a majority on May 7th, a new poll suggests. Such a result would make the SNP vulnerable to losing power for the first time since 2007″

pro-UK parties” would that include Reform UK ?

    Must do .

Remember Sarwar has no principles, so when it comes to him potentially having any chance of becoming FM he would then happily take support from someone (Offord) that he has recently called a “Racist”.

The Pro UK newspaper The Daily Record and their pro UK Political editor Paul Hutcheon are trying everything to get Sarwar elected as the next Scottish ( pro UK) FM. (just like the series of articles the non Scottish pro UK Daily Express are publishing just now on how to vote tactically to oust the SNP).

Indeed today’s non Scottish Daily Express has this as their front page headline which states:

“Swinney set for pro UK majority humiliation”.

All pro UK media are currently clutching at straws and also grasping at any underhanded way that they can find for Labour to steal this election away from the SNP (just as Labour have previously stolen some controls from Scottish councils away from the SNP , in them, Labour, collaborating with some of their 2014 BT friends ).

BTW the English edition of pro UK Daily Express has a #LabourBad front page where it states “Crime costs UK taxpayers £90 million a day under Labour” (this is apparently for Police probes , NHS care and court cases, but is that really pertaining to the whole UK or just what is happening within England, but the whole UK has to pay the bill for that ?)

    Confused ?

Or perhaps this is one of those (constant) instances when in stating it is the UK then they actually mean in England.

Meanwhile their non Scottish edition seems to be trying to aid Labour in Scotland to win the election in May, confused ?

No , not confusing, as it’s just more manipulation from a section of the gutter ‘press’ yet again.

Do they actually think that pro UK parties potentially stealing an election in Scotland will be something that is appealing to the majority of voters in Scotland ?

They must really think we are either all stupid or that we lack morals.

(Or they do not bloody care what we think or what happens in that distasteful scenario, as long as the SNP are ousted , and more importantly for them, they hope that Scottish independence will then be put on the back burner aka stopped from happening in the foreseeable future. So then they assume that their UK will remain intact and so then be safe).

They need to be careful with all of their plots and assumptions , as it may backfire on them all.

Hopefully , that is, if sanity prevails in the electorate within Scotland on May 7th.
