What does the Herald not want you to know about children in temporary accommodation in Scotland?
First they want you to confuse temporary accommodation with being on the streets:

Second, they hide the facts:
Why can Shelter Scotland not be trusted?

Yes, its just cheap sensationalist “journalism” from what was once a proper newspaper.
The Herald is now little more than the Express apart from the constant “Beloved Pubs / Hotel / Restaurant’s for sale that have been in the same family for 10 years”, fillers.

Councillor Susan Aitken said the city is housing thousands more asylum seekers than the ‘allocated amount’.”

The Herald has a registered address in Glasgow, but all I can find via companies house, is staff addresses in London and Buckinghamshire. The ‘Herald’ seems to be ‘dormant’ and is part of NEWSQUEST, ‘Herald and Times Group’.

Gabriel McKay has spoken, ‘Journalist @heraldscotland and Killie Chronicle. Previously @glasgow_times, @record_sport, @football_SCOT, @footballitalia, @glasgow_live.’, so clearly an archangel with his fingers on the pulse of what the Editor wants rather than logical analysis… https://archive.ph/rHGOo
Yet consider the opening conclusion by the Archangel “A report has concluded that children trapped in Scotland’s homelessness system are being failed, with many exposed to violence and unhealthy conditions” – conducted by ” world-leading experts at De Montford University and University College London ” – Anyone else detect the distinct odour of ‘Eau de latrine’, made in London ?

Shelter trying to get more money. Public and private.
The largest group of homeless children are asylum seeker groups because of Westminster policies. They will not let asylum seekers work. Ie Westminster Gov policy.
Children can be temporary homeless, until they are accommodated because women who co habit do not receive legal aid. They have to stay in unsafe vulnerable places. If they got legal aid they could get away. They have to put in a claim within a year. 1/3. It can cost £thousands and take years. They have to stay in unsafe, abusive places. The Law has been changed in England so abused women can get legal aid without losing the roof over their heads. It has to be paid back in any case.
Letting Agencies demand six month rent plus deposit, illegally, even from people with good credit. Leading to more people being homeless. Unlawful.

Sorry to post this here,, but it seems the only way to get in touch. I was accessing my GPs web site when a popup message appeared which seems very political. This appears targeted to the Forth valley area. The message heading is
“Why are your GP practices now unable to do everything they once were?
Important Information for Patients”
Web Site –w w w.parkhillmedicalpractice.co.uk/– I think this needs looked at further and wonder if this is in your intrest?

Unionist Health Boards. Scottish Gov funding SNHS £18Billion. Ever increasing. Prescription, social care. Elderly staying in their own homes, instead of residential hospital care. Doctors given increase salary, instead of striking. Nurses increase.
The Tories underfunded the NHS for 14 years. £22Billion going into the NHS from April.

Notice the difference in reporting by Shelter…..For Scotland they use “ national scandal” and “children trapped” but frame it differently for England.
Report for Scotland…https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/media/press_releases/record_high_more_children_living_in_temporary_accommodation_than_ever#:~:text=Record%20High%3A%20More%20Children%20Living%20in%20Temporary%20Accommodation%20Than%20Ever,-Posted%2005%20Feb&text=A%20record%20breaking%2010%2C360%20children,the%20Scottish%20Government%20has%20revealed.
Report for England….https://england.shelter.org.uk/media/press_release/children_homeless_in_temporary_accommodation_hits_shameful_new_record_of_151000_up_15_per_cent_in_a_year
Notice the numbers, in Scotland 10,360 children living in temporary accommodation, which is I agree way way too high. In England 151,000 children living in temporary accommodation. With England having ten times the population of Scotland the figure should be roughly 103,600 but there are 47,400 more children in England living in temporary accommodation. All of these figures are a disgrace. No child in either country should have to live this way but they really need to show all the facts and figures before condemning just one government.

I stopped contributing to Shelter some time ago when I realised how politicised they had become.
