England’s NHS underperformance day, bed-blocking, community care and road deaths set BBC Scotland an impossible task to match the misery – first the NHS

The Talking-up Scotland fund raiser primarily to enable the recruitment of some research assistance, in order to take pressure off me [74 in June and tiring] and hopefully to further improve the blog, has made a good start. Today, NHS England’s performance data come in and the omens, judging by the media attention, are bad. I’ll do a direct comparison later.

For the moment, a reminder of the numerous sets of figures showing NHS Scotland to be well ahead of the others in the UK in terms of waiting times, other than, of course, the 2 year list for non-life-threatening conditions which Boris John threw millions at the private sector to reduce, largely for PR reasons.

  1. FIVE TIMES as many wait more than 12 hours in two English A&E departments than in Glasgow as 57% of NHS England hospitals fail to declare critical incidents despite ‘out-of-control waiting times

2. Cancer waiting times – UK Government figures reveal that NHS Scotland performs significantly better than NHS England and shockingly better than NHS Wales and Northern Ireland

3. Factcheck – Full emergency waiting times are significantly shorter in Scotland unless you fake the figures like the Times

4. Massive surge in patients waiting more than 12 hours in NHS England A&E after 6 months of Labour-rule

  1. I put this comment in the previous article moments ago. This page is more appropriate. I am pleased you will be doing a direct comparison later. 👍

The BBC’s website coverage consists of

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cwyez2q13qxt

    • The BBC is spending a day at a major hospital to see how the NHS is coping after months of winter pressure
    • Our reporters will speak to patients and staff across the Royal Free site in north London
    • New NHS England data on waiting lists, A&E waits, and a host of other measures, will be published at 09:30 GMT – we’ll bring you it all here

  2. As the BBC ( England ) reports on a London hospital to gauge their effectiveness after a bad Winter , BBCScorchedland will be doing likewise .

Their reporters will be spending a day with Baillie and Gulhane to allow them to continue their misinformation after a Winter spent maligning the NHS.
