The Herald today, has the above ridiculous, propagandist, SNP-bad, headline, and:
Senior MSPs have urged ministers to extend the national bowel screening programme to the under 50s after an alarming rise in the disease among younger Scots. Conservative MSP Edward Mountain, a survivor of bowel cancer, and Scottish Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie made the plea to health secretary Neil Gray.
Absolutely, fully behind that but also behind more transparent reporting.
Why does the Herald take 8 paragraphs to reveal this?

A minor point, many will tell me, but we know that only around 40% of readers go beyond the headlines:
So, 60% see the opposition parties trying to tell the SNP to improve something, we all agree with, but how many made it to the 8th paragraph? We don’t know that for sure but, 10%? Less?
Footnote – bowel cancer screening in Scotland uptake is 66%.

Took the test every time I was offered when I was in the age group. Even although I’m now well outside the 74yr limit, I can still request a test kit every two years, if I have any suspicions.

If our press ever had the role of informing and educating then that time has long since passed.
The British institutions will do anything and everything to keep the status quo.

For me the most disappointing aspect of the Herald article is learning that Edward Mountain survived bowel cancer.

Sorry Anon no matter how much you detest the Tories and I don’t like them either or other Yoon parties but he is a human being like us and I would not wish anyone not to recover from any form of cancer.

I believe George Alagiah BBC was on record as saying if he was resident in Scotland he may have survived, because of earlier screenig

That’s sad.

Not so long ago testing was only offered to people in England at age 60, they saw that Scotland started testing at 50, so lowered it.

Absolutely rtpscott. We must never lower our standards. I detest the unionists, but if we resort to personal insults, we lose the argument.

Surprised uptake is only 66% in Scotland, need more ads posters etc to get that number up.
