Only after 13 paragraphs in the Telegraph report, headed Caledonian Sleeper receives nearly 1,000 complaints since SNP took over, and with 5 full paragraphs of a Scottish Conservatives tirade, the facts, missed by 90% of readers:
But Transport Scotland, the SNP Government’s transport agency, said: “The latest ORR passenger satisfaction results show that almost 90 per cent of Caledonian Sleeper guests were satisfied with their overall experience, with complaints (934) representing just 0.2 per cent of the almost 400,000 journeys made since the Caledonian Sleeper came into public sector control.
“Indeed, the latest ORR figures also show that complaints were down by 39 per cent in the 12-month reporting period (April 2023 to March 2024) in comparison to the 12 months prior – demonstrating a significant downward trend during public sector ownership.”
He said that fewer than three per cent of services had been cancelled in the year to September and “it is only right that passengers are compensated when disruption does occur.”
In the opening paragraphs, we read:
Figures published by the Scottish Conservatives disclosed that 883 complaints have been made since Humza Yousaf’s Government took the service into public ownership in June 2023.
So, 883 is nearly 1 000? Imagine their disappointment when they couldn’t get to 1 000 even after totalling 18 or 19 months of data as opposed to the standard statistical practice of comparing 12 month data.
Also, look at how ‘our’ media chose to represent the service many of them use to report to their London bossies and, no doubt, never dare to complain about, face-to-face with the staff.

The opposition parties have been saving this freedom-of-information stuff up for the festive season. We’ve had weans failing maths exams they never sat and a bigger ferry carrying more cars criticised for having greater fuel emissions than a smaller one previously lambasted for not being big enough for the summer traffic, by a Mull councillor who used to be managing director of Arsechester Dairies in Somerset.

Can we not doorstep these reporters and ask them to substantiate their data ?

How many journeys? Tories cannot count or read a balance sheet.
Investment should have been made on rail services in the North and Scotland to cut rail times throughout the UK. Journeys take twice as long. Instead of wasting £Billions on HS2.

Read ‘Deep Fried Hillman Imp, Scotland’s transport ‘, by Christopher Harvie, I think published 2008. There you will see just how Scottish transport infrastructure was neglected by the English governments over time. Lucky to even have roads in the Highlands at all. They built those originally for the land thieves to move livestock
after clearing the land of the Scottish people. Also when you say the ‘north’ is that England’s north?
I saw something about HS2 via I think Canadian news the other day, called it a ‘UK’ project, sigh. Scotland’s being billed for a portion of it, but it will never get near Scotland. It’s another scam by the English government on the people of Scotland.

The only interesting item from the usually pish ‘Bring in the Bells’ programme on STV where so called celebs are given air time to talk about themselves was a piece about Tennents ‘Caledonia’ lager advert many years ago. The hugely popular tune by Dougie McLean was used only once apparently after a Times article complained it was SNP propaganda and was pulled. It simply demonstrates again how the English media goes to great lengths to stifle Scotland’s potential at every turn.
Can’t wait to say Happy and Independent New Year every body.
