England facing the ‘Jaws of Death’ as water runs out in only 25 years and Scotland’s 30 000 freshwater lochs replace oil, gas and renewables in the struggle for independence

From @ArchbishopStua1 (Who could he be teasing there?) today, this:

Without significant action, the National Audit Office (NAO) forecasts that the total water demand will start to exceed supply in England no later than 2034. Be under no illusion English Privatised Water Companies need access to the water in Scotland.

https://x.com/ArchbishopStua1/status/1846584824129298790

and from the Guardian in June 2023:

Drought is on the verge of becoming the next pandemic

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2023/jun/15/drought-is-on-the-verge-of-becoming-the-next-pandemic#:~:text=Without%20significant%20action%2C%20the%20National,England%20no%20later%20than%202034

In the above, there’s a link to this from March 2019:

England could run short of water within 25 years

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/mar/18/england-to-run-short-of-water-within-25-years-environment-agency

There are no references to Scotland in the above and only two to our higher rainfall in the first.

That’s remarkable given this:

Scotland has more than 30,000 freshwater lochs, ranging from small lochans to the likes of Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. Loch Ness is the largest loch by volume – it contains more water (7,452 million cubic metres) than all English and Welsh lakes together.

https://www.nature.scot/landscapes-and-habitats/habitat-types/lochs-rivers-and-wetlands/freshwater-lochs#:~:text=Loch%20Morar%20is%20the%20deepest,English%20and%20Welsh%20lakes%20together

They’ll try to drain Wales first as it’s nearer but massive water pipes will run alongside the electricity cables from Scotland, and the propaganda to persuade enough Scots to believe we need them more than they need us will be ratchetted up.

How will Reporting Scotland explain it?

England helps take the pressure off Scotland’s dangerously over-filled lakes (sic) and aging, poorly maintained, water works

  1. It is indeed their justification for the UK being sustained that they declare as an opposition to Scottish independence that “we need them more than they need us”.

They frame it as being the ‘UK’ that we, in Scotland, apparently need.

Yet all we in Scotland witness , as the supposed ‘needy‘ ones within the UK, is that same UK plundering and exploiting Scotland’s resources for the benefit of elsewhere in the UK also for the profits to be gained for their UK treasury.

Strange also how so many various UK governments, who support the UK, spend so much time, effort and money trying to keep Scotland within that UK which they promote as being the only viable option for Scotland to survive as a country.

However England is never defined as also needing the UK to survive yet for them the inconvenient truth is that England relies on resources sourced from both Wales and Scotland, where England as part of that same UK currently get these resources for free.

It’s just a pity that more in Scotland either refuse to see the truth or are far too apathetic to bother about it or even care. (as evidenced by their still voting for pro UK parties in elections and too their lack of belief and support for independence).

  2. No doubt,we will be accused by the servants of the Anglo state as being “selfish” when we try to expose these sort of activities.

Grievance is what has driven more than 60 other countries to part company with the London treasury.

The only way their one nation nonsense can fly is to pretend that Scotland isn’t a country/nation and consequently that this sort of activity is simply redistributing resources within their internal borders rather than the theft which it really is.

100% everything you stated in your comment.

We’re being “selfish” but then they, the various UK governments, are never described as being far too greedy , exploitative and also disingenuous in declaring us in Scotland as being needy and also as those who , as a population, are promoted as benefiting more “per head” from “additional spending compared to the UK average”.

You can read this kind of propaganda on the UK Gov website under:

“GERS stats show higher public spending for Scotland as part of UK”

Written on 14 August 2024 by the new Labour MP, elected in Scotland in the recent GE, one Kirsty McNeill who is also the Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Scotland

(Also considered to be, like her boss Ian Murray, as acting against Scotland – and not “For” Scotland- as in against our best interests – and too as being one of the UK’s government’s people in Scotland- and who only act for the benefit and interest of the UK alone).

  3. what about this from Richard Murphy,s website , an english MP in westminster putting forward a bill for discussion in westminster about how best to make use of water in UK , not “in england ” or ” in england and wales ” but in UK , you know what that means dont you , just the same as what they did with Scotlands oil gas electricity privatise it steal it and charge Scottish people the highest amounts to buy it https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/10/16/clive-lewis-private-members-bill-to-give-us-real-choice-over-the-future-of-our-water/

    1. Absolutely Terence, but what are we going to do about the situation? We had the chance. We blew it, big time. I don’t see any prospect of us becoming an Independent nation in the near future. Westminster made a grave error in giving us the chance in 2014. They are not going to make the same mistake again. If anyone can explain exactly how we are going to achieve our aim, legally, I would be very grateful.

  4. GREAT BRITISH WATER! – has a wonderful ring to it!!!!!??? Forms a set with GREAT BRITISH ENERGY.

Now we need a NATIONAL GRID FOR WATER and a pricing system which will charge the residents of Fort Augustus higher prices than Islington because the water has to be pumped from Loch Ness to reservoirs in North London then pumped back to Fort Augustus. It makes sense, doesn’t it?????????

  5. Robert Simpson Silver CBEMAPh.DD.Sc.D.TechF.I.Mech.EF.Inst.PFRSE (1913–1997) was a Scottish physicist and mechanical engineer, awarded the Unesco Prize for Science in 1968 for his discovery of a process for the demineralisation of sea water. (I had to Google the above, from Wikipedia)

I remember an article by this man published in the Scots Independent in the 1970s (I think) that we should concentrate on our abundant natural resource, water, as in the future England would need our water as well as our oil. Let’s not make the same mistake with the water like we did with the oil.

PS He stood as an SNP candidate in 1979.

  6. ” England helps take the pressure off Scotland’s dangerously over-filled lakes (sic) and aging, poorly maintained, water works “ – Now who was making similar noises over exporting wind energy cheap to England….

I’ve said this before John, physically and financially it didn’t make sense in the 1970s to do as you suggest, and the physics haven’t changed… So now a rant…

In the 1970s Welsh impounding for NEAR export of water was at the limits of sustainability, and the recommendation to HMG for England was to start building RO plants and nuclear power stations to head off predicted power shortage for the south and SE of England – Bear in mind this was at the cusp of realising the fatal consequence of global warming – Beckton RO was the only one ever built – As for nuclear power, see Hinkley C and our very own State of a Secretary for Greggs hawking mini-micro-pico nuclear plants to Scots swamped by the stuff yet paying a small fortune for the leccy, unlike SE England…

There is a further strand to the 1970s recommendations worthy of mention, to accelerate metering to charge per m3 to encourage water saving… – Sunak (simply as example) pays a flat monthly rate, whether filling the swimming pool/s or laundering his millions, same as the OAP down the road with a buggered washing machine…

SE England REMAINS the highest user of water PER CAPITA in all Europe – London would have run dry already on earlier estimates, so quite remarkable the shit didn’t hit the fan ( or river ) earlier… Most realistic estimates are 15-20 years before London runs dry, they are creeping up on Jo-Burg on the list of unsustainable cities and Londoners don’t realise – All because of UK politics, determined by the very people whose pips are going to squeak…..
