How YouGov make sure they get a NO lead and stronger opposition to the SNP

In their most recent poll, in January 2024, Ipsos Scotland got:

  • Yes 50%
  • No 44%
  • For Westminster SNP 39%
  • and Labour 32%

Yesterday and being trumpeted as bad news for John Swinney, YouGov got:

  • Yes 38%
  • No 45%
  • SNP 39%
  • Labour 39%

YouGov had this sample ratio weighted according to the 2014 referendum, 10 years ago:

  • Of those who voted in 2014, Yes 44%
  • and No 55%
  • with 22% of the poll those who had not voted.

Ipsos had this sample ratio weighted according to the 2014 referendum, 10 years ago:

  • Of those who voted in 2014, Yes 48%
  • and No 51%
  • with 17% of the poll those who had not voted.

Ipsos is a multinational market research company based in France with no ‘horse in the race’ when it comes to Scottish independence.

YouGov is a UK-based pollster set up by former Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi and employed Boris Johnson to write about its polls.

  1. And today the sheisters who run the Scottish census who are working hand in hand with the unionists issued their census newsletter that releases snippets of the 2021 census bit by bit at politically convenient times tell us that those in Scotland who say their nationality is only Scottish has gone up from 62.4% to 65.5% a 3.1% increase since 2010 but those who say rheir nationality is british has gone up from 8.4% to 13.9% a 5.5% increase since 2010 and those who think they are both Scottish and british had gone down from 18.3% to 8.2% a 10.1% drop since 2010.Those totals add up to 87.6% which leaves 12.4% unaccounted for.We know there has been a big influx of english to Scotland you see it in our cities especially Edinburgh we also know a lot of Scottish people no longer want to be called british i suspect there are a lot more english living in Scotland than was previously declared who are now declaring as british only instead of Scottish and british .

  2. Ipsos Mori predicting political seats from early exit polling was fine, even the ‘swingometer’ was bearable on seeking to inform the public on their communal opinion, but it has become a massive industry with huge turnover precisely because it can influence public opinion and thus can be abused, eg Nadhim Zahawi – BBC Scotland are little different to that approach these days, we are beyond Fyfe Robertson’s honest if stilted reporting, we are in psy-ops territory.

Seriously – Who in their right mind would predict a landslide for Labour in Scotland this far out from a GE with support provably collapsing in England – The entirety of the British media, that’s who, armed with the latest polling, bought by the deepest pockets….

As to the mechanics, I strongly suspect YES supporters are not engaging with pollsters which then slews the results, then amplified by the usual suspects. When it matters, ‘Yes’ will turn out in force, leaving Ipsos to explain why even their numbers are under, YouGov will doubtless blame it on Fujitsu…

The Torches/Pitchforks game is finally coming to an end…

      1. It /r/Scotland having a tantrum that someone posted his blog pages over there, Seems like the mods rather have brainless trolls running a mock than let the actual voterbase post anything.

  3. It even worse than that going by YouGov own raw data sheet.

    • SNP & Labour seem to have 100% on both for WM voting I have no idea where they got the 9~10% lead figure from. Meanwhile holyrood vote shows another tie which makes them claiming SNP voters are switching a lie.
    • On the 16 ~ 24(145 sample) they claim It 41%, a age group that 90% yes???. Seems like another lie.
    • On page 4 they seem to have the 16 ~ 24 at Yes/No at 50/50 but the 25 ~ 49 is 63/37?. Who are they actually asking at this point?.
    • The rest seem to be asking should there be a ref despite the current plan Is making the GE the indie vote, Why even ask when everyone knows WM will never give one. What worse the other questions read like the SNP should do other things when It clear LAB/Tory want to scrap Devo powers.
    • John Swinney is at 70% favorably, They oddly never ask SNP voters view on Sarwar & Ross?. Lmao
