Still hiding the cross-border English county lines killers in Scotland

Perhaps unaware of the signal this might send to their readers, the Scottish Daily Express on 18 November had:

Telephone cell site analysis and automatic number plate recognition checks will play a vital role in tracking down the murderer of a young father, police sources have confirmed. Ross MacGillivray was the victim of “a significant level of violence” and it is feared he was killed on the orders of a Merseyside-based organised crime gang.

As tributes continued to flood in for the 36-year-old from Inverness, the extent of how technology can help find those responsible has been revealed. Whilst police have officially not commented on whether the fatal attack was drug-linked, the Highland capital has been plagued by so-called “County Lines” gangs trafficking narcotics to the city from England.

How have our so-called ‘serious’ media covered this story?

In 4 BBC Scotland reports, there is no mention at all of ‘county lines’ or of ‘England’ and just one of ‘Liverpool.’

The Herald covered the story at length but had no mention of any of the three descriptors above.

Why so reluctant to use these words?

  1. As everyone knows , the Scottish drug deaths ( worst in the History of the World )are entirely a Scottish problem – specifically an SNP problem .
If only a Unionist Party was in power then this problem would simply disappear – from the media !

  2. Hi John You will no doubt have noticed the article in the Observer/Guardian today by Sonia Sodha – educated at St Hilda’s Oxford, but who apparently knows what’s wrong with Scottish education.

Maybe you, as somebody with many years of experience in the Scottish education system, could write an article for the Guardian – which, being a fair minded publication regarding all thing’s Scottish, they would feel obliged to publish – obviously.

  3. ScotRail, nationalised last year by the Scottish Government, has introduced new greener Class 380 trains today on their Glasgow to Barrhead route. The line, which recently underwent a £63.3 million upgrade, is a part of the Scottish Government’s investment to decarbonise passenger services across Scotland’s Railway. Fares are from £2.20 one way and the journey time is 18 minutes!

“On Sunday, 10 December, a new timetable will be introduced, which represents our commitment to delivering the best service we can and encourages more people to choose rail.

We’re dedicated to making Scotland’s Railway more accessible and efficient.  We’ll be introducing electric trains between Glasgow – Barrhead and will be increasing the frequency of services on some key routes, as well as enhancing service reliability.

There is a lot of ongoing investment in Scotland’s Railway, with decarbonisation continuing and improvements across the network, and this new timetable is an important part of that.”

  4. When you read this shit, just remember the look on Cleverly’s face when Biden sought out Nicola at Copt 26 to present her with a gift. Nicola was banned from participating in the conference.
