Ayrshire riots were against English drug gang terror but media avoid anything that harms the reputation of the Union

For years now, I have commented on the reluctance of Scottish media to recognise the appalling impact on communities right across Scotland of brutal English ‘County Lines’ drug gangs arriving with a level of violent intent way beyond that of local dealers.

You can read several accounts here: https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/?s=county+lines

Over the weekend BBC Scotland, STV and the press have reported on riots in Auchinleck and Cumnock as exclusively violence against the police and with no explanation for the attack on a house that triggered the police response in the first place.

On Reddit, some local comment can be seen and this paints a different, more accurate I suspect, picture:

Once more, why are Scotland’s MSM shying away from this? No doubt my post here is ‘anti-English.’

Why are BBC Scotland’s disclosure team not on this one? Scared, investigating pan drop shortages in care homes or lost in Ireland following the wrong lorry of calves.

  1. It is odd that Scottish news programmes did not provide any context. In addition to your Reddit comments, I found this in the Cumnock Cronicle (it is from the PA News Agency and dated 20th October 2023)

    https://www.cumnockchronicle.com/news/national/23867658.1-600-arrests-week-long-crackdown-county-lines-gangs/

“More than 1,600 suspected members of county lines drug dealing gangs have been arrested in one week across England and Wales.”

At the end of their article it has this –

“Police Scotland also took part in the week of action, visiting 373 homes thought to have been taken over by the drug networks, arresting 25 people and seizing class A drugs worth more than £300,000. Weapons including machetes, a meat cleaver, a knife and a baseball bat were also recovered.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Freeburn said: “The harm caused by illegal drugs across Scotland is well-documented and county lines drug dealers bring nothing but misery to our communities. They exploit vulnerable people and groom and threaten young people to become involved in their nefarious activities.

“Our message is clear, this is simply not welcome or tolerated in Scotland.””

    1. Thanks. A clear failure by BBC Scotland and STV, with no attempt to report on the causes of the ‘riot’. The absence of any context is a wilful attempt to invite readers to imagine the No MeanCity/Scottish people are ‘feral’ lie.

Is the BBC Scotland propaganda intensifying?

      1. More relevant is the unwillingness of the media to provide the names. The Labour Party shoulders a grave responsibility for its immigration mania from third world countries

  2. Apart from the fact that we have a far better class of criminal here in Scotland,I am surprised that HM press aren’t promoting the benefits of being in a border free union with England where trade and criminality can flow freely…..well maybe not!

  3. After a bit of research I think our Scottish brothers and sisters will know what is going on if the City of Bradford is mentioned. Not exactly an English problem or a union problem..but as perusual the real perpetrators are allowed a free ride!

  4. I live in Cumnock, next town along, about a mile from Auchinleck. The protests were local communities rallying against drug dealing gangs “cuckooing” in the houses of people in the area. Auchinleck, Cumnock and Catrine I have heard specifically. These gangs are purported to be from the Bradford area. Some of the things they are alleged to have done are,

giving young girls drugs then photographing them in indecent poses while they are “out of it”. We are talking 13 / 14 year olds

locking two young boys in a room to fight , the winner gets free drugs

making a young woman put a firework in her trouser pocket and setting it off in exchange for drugs

threatening to rape and groping women on the street

The police have been present in riot gear as the protests could quite easily turn very nasty but as previously stated the context of why these protests and gatherings are taking place are not being reported.
