Pretty hypocritical,sending representatives from an establishment which has banned the wearing of tartan in the past and is presently engaged in a course of action designed to eradicate Scottish identity.
Next up,they will be demanding the return of the Great British National Anthem at sporting events involving North British teams.
British colonialism is not popular in the Americas so they would be best to keep a low profile when they are over there.

I think it was Sky news reported that ‘Team GB’ had won the curling against Canada other day…they might as well start calling Scotland ‘North Britain’ again being as everything is now ‘Britain’ this and ‘great Britain’ that! …I always thought it strange that the big hotel on Princes st in Edinburgh was called ‘the North British’ when I first moved to Scotland. I guess the English were good at renaming countries they invaded and occupied, denying the indigenous peoples’ rights.

Have you been watching Simon Schama’s History of Britain? It’s a repeat I know from some time back but still good, last night’s episode covered colonialism in Ireland and India but it could be anywhere really.

In the context of this event, anf them attending it, your reminder about the British banning tartan is hugely relevant and should be amplified by our Government to their faces in front of the Americans.

Hopefully America’s many Outlander fans will give them short shrift. John Lamont will be even fuller of his own importance and no doubt everyone he will speak to will tell him that Scotland doesn’t want independence as this is his pet phrase here in the Borders
