Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has called on the Nats to remove the confusion over the terms ‘jabs’ and ‘jags’ and to follow the English practice, in the national interest.
Fraser claims that a member of his local Q Anon SAGE group has evidence that English people living in Scotland are refusing ‘jags’ because they don’t know what they are.
Anas Sarwar say he agrees in the national interest and points out that the Welsh use ‘jab’ and not the local term ‘pigiad.’
Alex Cole-Hamilton has offered to train Scottish vaccinators in how to say ‘jeb.’

Does he think all the English are as dumb as that? Millions of Scots use the term Jag but are intelligent enough to understand that the English jab while the Scots go for the more positive Jag.

Fwiw jab “a quick, sharp blow, especially with the fist.” – you have to use it as a verb before it makes any sense – poke roughly or quickly, especially with something sharp or pointed.
Jag, “Scottish informal – an injection” Note to Mr Fraser’s consituents, I dont want to seem unwelcoming, but if you chose to live here, perhaps you should learn the lingo?

One other thing about the sojers. I learned from the wife of an ambulance driver recently that any of them sent to the Ambulance Service could NOT drive a blue light ambulance – you must have sat and passed a special test to be allowed to do that.

Do the Scottish soldiers in England saying jag?
There can’t be that many people left in Scotland who have not had two jags and a booster. There are enough vaccinators in Scotland to cope with the remainder.
Since NHS Trusts in England are struggling due to the UK government’s decision not to bring in restrictions to protect the NHS it is more appropriate to help patients in England than administer a jag in Scotland.

Murdo has also complained that native Scots have been refusing to adopt the English pronunciation of Lock Ness and Old Lang Zyne. He considers this to be very confusing.

Is he not concerned about the obvious confusion that could the name for Irish Gaelic in much of Scotland between the name for Irish Gaelic and the Scots pronunciation of a place that the sun doesn’t shine ?
