Strangely leaping at apparent good news on infection levels, the Herald doesn’t seem to have noticed the asterisk and the comment telling us that the UK Government’s labs are not keeping up, even on a weekday, so that 1 200 fall seems unlikely to hold.
From the Scottish Government
More encouraging and secure is the figure of 605 in hospital and 50 in ICU. That’s the lowest admissions level since August 31st when there were 585 and confirmation of ICU levels across the whole of Scotland at around 50 compared to 100 in mid-September.
Other good news not much reported, but I note with pleasure, used by the FM to put Ross in his place last week, Scotland continuing to vaccinate more on all three jags, for every age group, than the the non-Scottish parts of the UK.
Talking-up Scotland 
The Herald statistician , Jackie Baillie , was otherwise busy with scaremongering elsewhere so was unable to put a proper negative spin on these figures .
Sources say that she has asked Santa for a super-duper anti-SNP calculator for Christmas .

I wonder if tomorrow’s figure, which will doubtless include new cases + the backlog, will “soar” or just “surge”?
Re the vaccination rates, the Welsh are doing OK too. That’s what makes me find the English totals so suspicious. Fewer vaccinated, fewer precautions and fewer infections? Until very recently anyway. Are they accurate even now do you think?

On the subject of DRoss being ‘telt’ yet again, was amused to note the FM’s robust and complete response being brutally edited on Radio Scotland to avoid any comparisons being broadcast 🙄 Pathetic really, Nick Robinson reborn, “she said nothing ”
