Covid Scotland: Here are the 300 areas with higher Covid rates than anywhere in Scotland

Typically disinterested in anything that some might perceive as good work by that SNP Scottish Government, the Scotsman ignores the fact that we have the lowest infection rate in the UK and digs furiously for something they might get you worried about.

They miss this:

Most of Scotland is almost free of the virus. Note the contrast with the North of England where Labour mayors run the show.

Here’s the first page of the data with the top 17 most infected areas:

Here’s the 18th page of 17 areas. Midlothian is in at 301st most infected area.

Notice the Midlothian figure is falling fast. They won’t even be this high tomorrow.

Isn’t this newsworthy? Should the Scotsman go for it?

  1. I’d done exactly the same calculations as you’re the figures. (I never used to be like this. I blame it all on this wonderful blog the good people btl! 😀 )

One paragraph I would comment on, though, is this:
“Most of Scotland is almost free of the virus. Note the contrast with the North of England where Labour mayors run the show.

I think this partly reflects the fact that the North of England – like large areas of Scotland, and Wales for that matter – has been ignored and underfunded for a very long time. It still is. Don’t forget, funding for Level 3 wasn’t extended to Manchester until SE England needed it.

Or was that your point, and I’ve misunderstood? In which case, apologies – please ignore/delete!

      1. Think I must be one of the few who have not seen any of Game of Thrones. Don’t know whether that makes me sad or uneducated.

  2. Send the researches on a training course
Set up with the sole purpose of ensuring accuracy
I recommend that they are stood upon a clearly defined white line that they never cross set 1.0 metre distant from a large barn door for which they must hit with a projectile of their own choosing
But please warn them that throwing feathers at such may prove futile and a tremendous waste of energy

  3. The hypocrisy of Beth Murray’s “angle” in common with all Scots’ media is to talk up “one nation”, “the union” and “one big happy family” one minute, then try to convince us our part of that union is shite all on it’s lonesome the next.
As your map clearly demonstrates that could not be further from the truth had dePfeffel written it himself.

Your synopsis eloquently examples the sheer stupidity of all this, keep the Jocks worried about local issues and “for god’s sake don’t mention Cumbria, thanks, Alister”.

Were this a marathon for most infected, the politicians and media would be slagging off Midlothian for only coming in at 301st place, Alister Jack would be “tut-tut-reaiully.. the Separatists are letting the entire nation down in these Hunger Games by not condemning their due weight”

When London controls what you know in England it is for the English electorate to decide whether this is acceptable in a purported democracy.
Scottish media will never be forgiven for their part in this campaign against Scots.
