OK, so I do have a rather specialised training in how to strengthen democracy and improve social well-being. Which focused particular attention on the legal dimensions of inclusive social and environmental practice. So my hostility towards British nationalism is well grounded. 😉
Robert, No, CameronB Brodie is correct when he refers to British nationalism, because it has significantly muddled the concept of an English identity.
I agree, however, that there is an aspect of English nationalism which lay behind Brexit and the nastiness of UKIP and related parties and which underpins much of the jingoism of the Mail, Express, Telegraph, Star, Metro. It is decidedly nasty.
But there is a growing awareness amongst many decent people of an English identity, which is not that nasty one, nor is it the ‘British’ one which was force fed them in schools as it was to us Scots, to the Welsh and to the Northern Irish. However, the latter three have, throughout the period of the unions had a sense of Scottishness, Welshness and Irishness, which co-existed in many with a sense of Britishness, too.
So, rather than condemn ‘English nationalism’ outright and unthinkingly, let us assist the people of England in separating a sense of England distinct from Britain.

Tomorrow and every other day, will this story still be reported as a success? Or will we regaled by the same mince as is normal in the “Scottish” press?
She will never resign. Half the finance committee have because they are denied access to the accounts by Peter Murrell but it appears we are not to discuss that.

I make no claim to be other than politically naive – please explain how the accounts are relevant to death figures. Or is that what I hear called a squirrel?
“She’ll never resign”
Oh dear.
Let me rephrase that:
What?
Our death rate’s falling?!
RESIGN!!!
/s
Although your response to my, admittedly facetious comment, does reinforce the point of it.
Some people, regardless of the fact that Hamilton’s findings, would find ANY REASON AT ALL – even a lower death rate – as a reason to resign.
Perhaps, in fairness, she should join a queue? And, as Scotland is expected to follow ukgov’s lead, perhaps she should be behind such as Alexander Johnson (who’s officially broken the Ministerial Code of the WHOLE NATION at least 7 times. And that’s a far more important Code than the piddly ‘Scotch’ one, surely). Really Nicola? JUST THE ONE INQUIRY? You’re letting the whole of Scotland down
And how about Matt (“Well you never mentioned the OTHER 100 contracts) Hancock? Makes P Murrell look a bit of a wuss doesn’t it?
Can’t Scotland do ANYTHING without an example from WM? Perhaps the yoons are right – we need the Union to keep us on the right track!
For the avoidance of doubt, this comes with a /s. For the avoidance of doubt for thesnpleftme S = SARCASM/IRONY…
Oh.
Of course, the person who, by leaking the daft findings of the Committee and those who discussed it on a public forum, almost DEFINITELY broke the Ministerial Code, will recognise their fault, apologise to Parliament for undermining parliamentary process and tender their resignations with immediate effect. Cos they’re much better than the FM, aren’t they?

Scotland rugby team relegated to third UK team mentioned today
They could not lead with england because england lost today to ireland
So they led with Wales who narrowly lost to France
Then we got england losing to Ireland
And lastly we got Scotlands WIN against italy
Can you imagine if England had won today and were the only UK team to win but were then third in line for a mention after the others losing
No of course you cant
They wanted to talk about england first today but couldnt because they lost so they hid it behind wales
Of course if england had won today we would have got player interviews and recaps of great tries scored and probably clips of previous wins
But england lost today so we did not get that
But hang on with Scotland winning we got player interviews and recaps of great tries scored and clips of previous wins didnt we ?
No dont be silly
ONLY england get that
Scotlands too wee too poor too stupid
England hiding behind Wales? Shame on you suggesting such a thing, Terence!
Don’t you know that the UK consists of Scotland, NI and – last but not least – Englundunwales? (And the Welsh had to fight b****y hard to get that! The weather forecast for England used to include Swansea, Cardiff etc)

ENGLISH NATIONALISM IF YOU DONT MIND
SCOTLAND IS CERTAINLY NOT NATIONALISTIC
WE MERELY WANT TO “FULL POWERS” TO GOVERN OUR COUNTRY WITHOUT INTERFERENCE FROM A SECOND PARTY
WHOS ONLY PURPOSE IS TO STOP OUR COUNTRIES WISHES AND WILL
