Macwhirter’s Uncanny English thoughts

The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous

Joseph Goebbels, 1941 (ref below)

Iain Macwhirter returns with a retread:

YOU can understand his frustration. Labour politicians like Sir Keir Starmer can’t understand why the Scottish National Party is so successful. It’s just not fair. Nicola Sturgeon doesn’t walk on water. Why are the media not doing more to expose her?

Macwhirter writes ‘YOU’ but he really means ‘I.’ In his wee bubble of post-Blairites, there’s a cluster of mainly older guys who will not look at the inconvenient facts revealing that the SNP has done better and that the ‘the media’ never stops trying to expose Nic.

As Goebbels pointed out in 1941, it is a very English establishment tendency, a stupid thick-headedness, so ingrained that it has become habitual and perhaps even an honestly-held if dim-witted viewpoint.

If Macwhirter does believe what he writes, then he is delusional. Objectively, the Scottish Government has done better across a range of policies and, obviously, is subject to regular barrage of dishonest attacks from establishment figures like him.

This mince deserves only minutes of my time so for many reports on the evidence, have a look at:

Joseph Goebbels, 12 January 1941.

  1. Or, to better illustrate English thick-headedness, you could have gone with that great World War I tactical genius General Melchett’s dictum: “If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.”

  2. Macwhirter retweeted this.

“Labour Unionists decried Scottish nationalism as “nativism”, “bigotry” and even “racism”. But working class Scots saw only their community, their people and their solidarity – a democratic bulwark against anonymous forces of capitalism”

  3. And we all know how Goebbels fate ended up
    Maybe clever and intelligent
    But completely lacking in Wisdom
Which is such a even rarer commodity these days in those who are chosen to lead
Very much a case of the blind leading the blind as voters are now well and truly hooded
    By the media
But in all this fog we have a certain person going by the name of Nicola who is so naturally imbued with that most precious of gifts WISDOM

  4. Macwhirter, another BritNat establishment jobsworth, I bet he benefits from free prescriptions, his kids if at university in Scotland won’t be landed with £30k+ of fees (debt) and no doubt he uses the new Forth Road bridge and other facilities and infrastructure that would never have been built had any BritNat party been in charge at Holyrood thes epast 12 years. Yet he does nothing but demonise the very party who are trying to repair ( against massive odds to say the least) the neglect and damage to Scotland of 300+ years of English rule, he is another rogue working against Scotland and the best interests of the people of Scotland. Disgraceful.

Goebels knew the English (especially the establishment) very well, I had not seen that quote before, a leopard never changes it’s spots as they say, same with Tories and red Tories.

What does he mean ‘expose her’, I think we know. He is saying they are failing in finding some real dirt however small, they are failing in demonising NS more than already, and they are failing to get her out of office by hook and by crook! Macwhirter, enemy of Scotland, nasty piece
of work if ever there was.

This might interest some with regard to how Nicola Sturgeon is doing and has done re the pandemic. Very interesting report.

Really ? Is he having a laugh? Has he been in a coma over the last year while a barrage of attempts “to expose her” have rained down on the public, even recently from a wake?👀
Perhaps Ian might consider publishing the recipe for whatever substance he has been taking, 5.5 million similarly bemused Scots would really like to know an alternative to the mute button or a half brick and replacement TV. 🤪
Propaganda relies on subtlety not merely repetition, the blitzkrieg approach of HMG and the media in their desperation to crush SNP support, amplified during the Covid crisis exposed the obvious, politics to some mattered more than peoples’ health and lives.
THAT is the driver of late for Scottish Independence, folks such as McWhirter, Murray, Gordon, Leotard, the Baronless, even Wee Willie Winkie, who would blatantly lie for THEIR political advantage, have become alien to Scots who want a different political landscape.

  6. Mcwhirter used to be a sympathetic voice–when Independence was a minoroty sport. Not so much these days, sadly.
Scotland needs, and is lacking, honest journalism. Now, tomorrow and certainly after independence.
Mr Starmer asserts he will push ” power” to the most local levels. This sounds like Ian Murray’s recipe for denuding Holyrood of authority, while enhancing Westminster “soveriegnty”.
Gordon Brown. What can we say?. A conman selling a fictitious future in 2014.
Alec Douglas-Home in 1979. Brown in 2014. Hucksters and frauds.

  7. Heard discussion chaired by John Beatit between Macwhirter and Franchetti. The Clown tried to argue that Sturgeon is beyond criticism and politics now so engrained is she with Scots. Franchetti gave the listeners the adult view of The FM’s slip up.
