Where the wind power is being generated and is most likely to be generated for the above prediction:

In 2019, Scotland’s wind-power alone generated enough electricity to power 4.47 million homes. That was nearly twice the number of homes in Scotland.

  1. Tories and red Tories, full of hot air. There is huge coal mine on the verge of being given the go-ahead in Cumbria. I wonder who runs their council? Can’t the Tory gov step in to stop? No chance!

  2. The majority of the wind power will be from Scottish sources and will go to RUK.
England’s elites want this to be viewed as an argument for Scotland to remain captive within the UK.

    1. Indeed – electric power as a major, high value export to England (and elsewhere) from an indy Scotland. And an export – like oil & gas (for a time yet) and potentially water – which requires (just) new metering equipment (and not customs posts) at the Scotland-England border.

Also on electric power, oil, natural gas and potentially water, the newly independent Scotland will not only gain balance of trade benefits and foreign currency earnings from these exports but also that crucial strategic benefit of security of supply in a volatile world.

And then we can add to these key national assets Scotland’s indigenous capacity in agriculture and in fisheries (both wild capture and aquaculture).

And on fish farming, the Norwegians are now extending farming into deeper, more remote ocean locations where an indy Scotland could follow suit given the nature and extent of what will be our Exclusive Economic Zone (see
      https://www.offshore-energy.biz/norway-greenlights-deepwater-fish-farm-project/ )

  3. “Saudi Arabia of renewables”—now where have I heard that before ?

Oh, yes. Alex Salmond has said it repeatedly over the years—in the face of abuse from the Red and Blue Toadies.
Could the media have found a wee Salmond quote to prove Boris was a plagiarist?

Or did they not want to?

I note PM Johnson was talking about the ‘precious Union’ again today in his speech to the Tory Conference. But alongside this he re-introduced the vision of creating a new Jerusalem.

But where is this Jerusalem to be? Do we all just have to buy into William Blake’s vision – a one-nation UK Tory Jerusalem? No sign of Johnson being at all concerned to acknowledge and respect difference between the UK’s union of nations. His choice of the ‘Jerusalem’ image just reinforces the Unionist notion of the’ UK as England’.

‘And did those feet in ancient time
    Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy lamb of god
    On England’s pleasant pastures seen?

    And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
    And was Jerusalem builded here
    Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear: o clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariots of fire!

    I will not cease from mental fight;
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
    Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land.”

Feeling excluded, feeling disrespected? Are the Tories taking the p__s?

  5. The Tories are only now getting on board with renewables because their nuclear program is in meltdown.
I wonder how many bilions have been wasted on that?
Their claims about having to balance the books are not credible when we have had decades of book cookers, aka chancellors, wasting public money on white elephant schemes.

  6. The Tory waste of space. Hinkley Nuclear power station. Never has there been such a waste of monies. A waste of time and space. Costing £Billions wasted. Wind, wave and solar so much better and more economical. The Tory poor, bad decisions are costing £Billions wasted that could have been better spent. HS2 another absolute waste that will make journeys take longer. Ruin the environment. Trident a colossal waste of time and space. Contaminated the environment.

Wind, water, solar, renewable in Scotland. Scotland is self sufficient in fuel and energy.
The Tories reneged on £Billion for CCS for coal. Scotland covered in coal – black gold. The Tories cancelled
a tidal water project £1Billion in Swansea. Reneged. Refused investment for CCS projects in the North Sea. The EU investing in these projects. Scotland missing out, Turbines printing money.

The Tories poor, bad decisions. Damaging the economy. Losing £Billions of investment. Brexit. Another catastrophe. Brexit has cost more already than the whole of EU contributions ever. £Billions are being wasted. Damaging the economy. The Tories are incorrigible.
